275/35 seems a bit tall. We typically use 275/30-20. That size will fit wheels 9.00 to 10.00" wide so make sure yours fall in that range.

well the car right now has 255/35/20 all around it used to have 225/45/18 in the front and 245/45/18 in the back i was thinking of making the rears 275/35/20 to give it that staggered look...but idk if it'll work cuz i have the FX45 wheels which i believe are 20"X8mm wide

Neal,

I need to buy a set of tires to replace my Michelin Pilots. I want to get a set of all seasons that aren't loud and have good traction in rain/light snow. Any suggestions?

This is for an '04 G35 Coupe. 245/45R18 for back and 225/45R18 for front.

Willing to spend up to $1,000 for a set of 4.

Hi Neal,

I'm also in the market for tires for my '07 6MT coupe with 19" Ray OEMs. I already have winter wheels/tires for use in winter months, so this would be a summer tire only. I do almost all highway driving, so the occassional off/onramp is where I push them the most. I would rank treadlife highest, followed by handling, then noise/comfort. I'm leaning toward the Yoko Avid Envigors but there aren't many reviews. I'm also considering the Conti Extreme Contact DW or the Kumho Ecsta SPT. Of these 3, which would your recommend for my type of driving?

Also, is there any sort of discount for members of this forum when ordering via TR?

The AS+ would be an excellent tire to look at. Those would come in under 1K. May also want to check out the B-Stone RE960. Similar tire for a little less.

I'd toss out the Envigor being an all season tire. The DW is a great dry tire from the Max perf class, but will wear a little quicker than the others. Kumho's SPT is a good dry but lacks a tad in the wet and can be noisy. I'd prob go with the DW.

Neal,

How would the AS+ hold up in city traffic? I rarely do highway.

Thanks for your feedback!

No problem with traffic at all. Very good daily driver sport tire.

Neal, what are the widest tires you would recommend running on the OEM 19" f/r without upsetting VDC? I've read some do 245/35-19 f and 255/40-19 r...is this the way to go? Thanks.

The 8" wheel front and 8.5" wheel rear really won't allow for a wider tire combo. If they would have made it a 9" rear things would be different. Fronts you can increase to a 245, but won't get much benefit by keeping the rears 245.

OK, thanks. Neal, any opinion on the Conti ExtremeContact DW in 225/40-19 and 245/40-19? I see some reviews say the sidewalls are a bit softer but that the grip in wet and dry is great. How do they compare to, say, the original Pilot Sports?

Great tire to have. Runs with the big dogs like Michelin's PS2, but for a lot less cost.

Sorry - looking again at this - does this mean going to a 255 or a 265 on the 8.5" wheel would be a better idea with a 245 front? And what is the max diameter difference (in %) that will throw off VDC? Is it >2%?
