Hello all from Tire Rack
Tirerack guy,
Can you recommend replacement tires for a 05 G35X? - standard size (215/55-17) tires. I prefer road comfort, very good wet traction and braking, and low noise as main criteria. Also need decent traction in light, occasional snow. Mileage and high speed cornering ratings are not as important.
On the car now are GY Eagle ResponseEdge on rear and Hankook V4 ES on front. Unfortunately , the previous owner had done this. Surprisingly, the performance of these tires has been OK, except awful in light snow even with AWD.
Thanks!

Tires for 2008 G35 Journey
Neal, I hope you can help with some suggestions for me. I just learned that my 2008 G35 Sedan Journey (with standard 17" wheels; I don't know the exact dimensions) needs new tires. I have only 23,000 miles on the O.E. Goodyear Eagle RS-A, 225/55R17, and they're down to 4/32. I have no real complaints about the performance (nothing really to compare, though; my prior car was a Honda Accord), but I drive 15,000 miles a year and I need something that's going to last 45K-50K at least. What would you suggest that will give me performance that equals or surpasses those RS-A tires? I live in Southern California, and never drive in the snow, but wet handling is important. I guess I'd describe my driving style as "spirited." About half the miles are just on local streets, the other half freeway, a significant chunk of that on the curvy and scenic Arroyo Parkway (nation's first freeway). Traffic conditions permitting, the G seems to like driving that road at 70-75 MPH (posted 55). Throw in a couple of trips per year up the 101. Budget is also a consideration, as I can't afford to spend a grand on a set of tires.
Thanks!

What's the reason you're looking for all the offsets and such if I can ask? Our engineers here have worked with Breyton in determining what will and won't work on certain cars. If you want to purchase a fitment we do not approve for the G, they are non returnable, will come with no lugs/center rings, etc. Once the box is open they are yours to keep.
Thanks for your reply. I think I will order the Yoko Envigor for the 2007 g35s sedan. 2 - 225/50/18 & 2 - 245/45/18. What would best price be shipped to 94080? Instead of ordering myself online, I figured I should order through you to make sure you get credit for the sale.

hey Neal
I finally went with a set of Boss 340 rims (20x8.5) mounted with Falken FK452 (245/35/20).
Since I put them on I have noticed alot of vibration @ high speeds (60-90 mph) I was told that I shouldn't speed past 90mph because they are a bit heavy. Is that true?
what do you think could be a reason for all the vibration? I mean it feels like everything inside the car shakes when I hit 85mph...but my oem set I could hit 135mph and have minimal vibration...I'm pretty much new to riding on 20" rims so any help would do.
Cheers

Might be a couple of generic things.
Check if the wheel needs a centering ring. If so, make sure installed properly or at all.
Make sure correct lug hardware is being used. If not they won't seat properly and cant torque down.
Tire might be out of round or package not balanced properly. Find an installer with a road force balancing machine to check the tire for run-out.
Make sure the locating pin on the front hubs/rotors has been taken off prior to wheel install.
Other than that I would go back to where you purchased them and ask to see what might be the issue.

hey neal, seems like you guys have blizzak lm25 (225/50-18) on closeout sale right now.
how will this perform as my rear setup on 18x8?
my winter setup is 18x8 all around (non-stagger) on G coupe with 225/45-18 front and 225/50-18 rear
let me know how this rear will perform with my currently brane new front 225/45 setup.
since its non-staggered and higher profile in rear making it taller in the rear, im sure i can use this 225/50 setup than go with usual 245/45 setup.
thanks!

I'm not sure I understand. You have 225/45 and 225/50 already? If so, the LM's shouldn't be any different fitting that what's on there now. I wouldn't recommend mixing those Blizzaks with a different tire up front (if that's your question).
Hey Neal,
I'm going to need new tires fairly soon. The new set should ideally be tires i can rotate not only front/back, but left/right as well, without dismounting the tires.
Which summer or high-perf a/s would fall under this category?
Thank you.
