Hey Neal, quick question. I'll be needing new tires for my OEM 19's soon, and i have a bad habit of being a shitty driver and scraping curbs lol. Now that I have spacers, they stick out even further. As it is, my wheel and tire are about even. What would you recommend for a tire that has a hardcore raised wheel protector, and a really great treadwear? 300 or 350 AA or more? I seem to remember on my moms 2003 IS300 when she bought it new, the OEM tires were Bridgestone and had the most awesome raised wheel protector i've seen to this day. Those tires lasted her forever too.

Not really too much against a summer tire, but i imagine an all season would fare better in the midwest, and since I don't hit up the Nurburgring every few weeks, lol, grip isn't super important. Again if the tread rating is high and its a summer tire, thats cool too. main thing is that wheel protector, and a high treadwear rating. thanks!

Well, honestly we do not measure the size of each tires rim protector so I'm not sure how one differs from another. I'd look at the Conti DWS or Yoko Envigor. Both offer great tread wear and can handle some abuse. If you don't see a lot of accumulation during the winter I'd steer toward the Yokos.

Neal, looking to get some continental DWS tires for my 04 coupe with 18" rims. On the website the size that fits the rear 245/45/18 says it is on back order. Is this true? If so when do you expect to get some more in stock? What would you suggest as a comparable alternative if the lead time for these is months out?

Yes, sadly it's true. Probably won't see those for another 6+ weeks at this point. Yoko Envigor has been a very popular runner up for G owners when Conti's are MIA.

Just to check numbers vs. a local shop...

Can you price me 2x 275/35/19 in Ecsta SPT's, to 30004?

I'm getting $470 out the door pricing here. Think that's pretty good.

Goodyear $388.71

Hopefully I'm not steering biz to the local shops via these quotes.

If thats eagle GT then you are not giving business to local shops. Thats even cheaper than the tire rack website. If I decide to get new tires it will almost certainly be from here.

My quote for gt's from a local shop (with mount and balance) was in the 560's so you should be in good shape.
