All depends how low you want to go.

I personally don't like stretch on a 30 sidewall, so if I'm going 20s I'm not going silly on the width.

BUT if it were my car and those specs, I'd stretch more in the front and even out the rear....

What's your opinion on stretching 30 series on 20's? From what I gathered, the general feeling seems to be it's unreliable. The extra clearance of the shorter tire is what I'm looking for. Think it would be ok going from 225/35 to 235/30 on a 9.5?

I am starting to look for new wheels, I want to make my OEM 17s winter tires and get something a bit more agressive, but not over the top. I dont want to worry about rubbing or adjusting the camber / rolling the fenders either, and I would like staggered if possible. Does anybody have any ideas where I should be looking?

Buddy of mine just did the exact same thing 225/35 to a 225/30. No problems so far, but you're taking off a could chunk of rubber so you're more prone to bends and wheel damage.

Roll the fender, don't bother trying to make wheels look good if you won't roll the fenders.

xxX9 +30 and xxX10 +43ish is a good place to start.

But roll the fenders, no point not to.

Got a question about wider tires and wider wheels. Does it make your car handle better? The wheels I'm getting are 11" wide. I wanna feel like I'm driving the tumbler on a budget lol

I've read that it's easier for the tire to fall off the bead on a 30 series. I know a Nankang 225/30 tire stretches a lot on a 9.5 cuz I've done it before and decided to go up a 35 series. Now I want the extra clearance I had with the 30; think I can achieve a decent stretch with a Nankang 235/30 on 9.5? Or should I do 225/30 on a larger tire like generals to get a similar result? What brand tire is your buddy running? Thanks.

It will make it feel a little more planted but I wouldn't say it would increase handling characteristics unless you have some quality tires. Best handling mod would be adjustable sway bars.

basically rule of thumb is.... for ever 20mm in tread width it's equal to 5 in profile.

AKA 245/35 is the same stretch as 265/30

So the 235/30 will still be a little more of a stretch than the 225/35 and you will increase the upper clearance like you want.

225 is kind of an ugly stretch when it's not needed.

What stretch are you doing in the rear?

Run the 225s for now I guess, but you're probably going to throw off the VDC pretty good.

^Your buddy running the 225/30 on a 9.5? What brand tire? I'm thinking about switching to generals with 225/30 since they run a little big correct? For some reason 225/35 is not stretching as much as I would like but everyone else seems to think it's a good stretch.

He's running Hankook V12s (which run true)

Generals are going to be tough as they have discontinued the UHP. There is a replacement for it but it's not really stretch tested so no way to tell if it's true, small or large.
