Offset question:

I have a 2004 G35 sedan that I'd like to put 18x9s on at all for corners. I tried running a staggered setup before and I wasn't really crazy about how the car felt in the corners.

Things I have done so far are fender rolling and the 350Z/G Coupe spring/strut combo. I will not be doing a BBK, so it's not an issue for me to worry about any caliper clearance issues.

However, I'd like to do this without running mad camber. I'm not going for hella flush status or anything like that, but I don't want the wheels tucked into the arches either.

The car won't be going any lower, either. I might do some sways or adjustable shocks, but I love the stance that it has right now.

Any suggestions? Since there's a ton of responses and questions on here, PM me if you have an idea.

Thanks in advance!

ok guys... i need some help here.. i just place a custom order for some rims.. and im trying to figure out what size tires i should get and if a camber kit...

rim specs are:

F- 19x9.5 24mm offset O Disk
R- 19x11.0 15mm offset O Disk

Suspension set up:

350z H tech springs with stock suspension (for now)

Now i was thinking of getting 245/35/19 for the (front) and 275/30or35/19 for the (rear)? (Which rear tire?) and would i need a camber kit to get everything lined up and not have it rub or will roll fenders do?

thanks!!

I honestly don't have any experience with either tire so I can't give you a definite answer.

I personally ordered a set of UHPs because I needed 235/35/20 for my fronts and they're one of the few brands that have those sizes. I've heard good things about these tires and especially since I'll be using them to DD on I figured they were more than good enough. Plus the 380 rating vs. 280 for the Hankooks means they will last longer too.

I've seen reviews of the Hankooks and they seem to be great tires. Only thing is, as I said before, that they have very soft sidewalls and people have noticed this even when used for only DD duty. The soft sidewall will allow them to stretch easily but it also means that the tire will be more prone to giving out if you were to go over a pothole or something. This means that there's a larger chance of damaging your wheel if this happens, but it is also very likely that it wouldn't happen and that I'm wrong.

I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either tire so just choose whichever one you feel would be better suited to your needs or the one you feel you should buy. You won't have any regrets with either of them.

Let me know what you decide on.

Yeah sorry about that, 245/35/19 is right for the coupe. The 245/40/19 is for the 2nd gen sedans.
Thanks

Your best bet is probably to go with 18x9 +30 with 245/45/18 tires. You shouldn't really need to run any more negative camber than you have from the drop already.

245/35/19 and 275/35/19.
With that drop you may need to get a rear camber kit to fit that width/offset combo.

WOW, best thread ever. Here is my question.

I have been trying to do as much math as possible, and this is what I have figured out so far.

When one purchases A wheel/tire combo from say, wheelsnext, the tire size option will have a very conservative look. For example: If you order a 18x7.5 rim, the tire size option will be 225/40/18. This works out to 30mm of tire for every inch of rim. 225 divided by 7.5 = 30. I searched around and compared peoples stretched rim and tire widths and seem to come up with an average 24.5mm of tire for every inch of rim. Let me know if I am on the right track. If I wanted 19x9.5 F and 19x10.5 R, I should use 235/40/19 F and 255/40/19 R?

Also, What should my offsets be if I want to be flush without a drop?
Just lookin for some stretch on a moderate budget. Thanks guys.

Ok this question is for the gurus here. I acquire a set of 20" wheels sizes are 20x8.5 front and 20x10.5 rears. My question is will 235-35 be good for the front and will 255-35 be fine for the rears? I have seen the 255-35 on a 10.5 wheel and like the mild stretch looking to get the same look for the fronts...am I close? What are your recommendations? This will be on a 04 coupe dropped on Eibach sportlines for a 350. soon to be coilovers. i believe the rears will defeinitely need to be rolled flat and even pulled a bit not sure on the fronts. Offsets are i believe 30 front n rear so yes spacers I will have. currently have 25mm in the rear and 20mm in the front on the stock 18s. TY in advance!

You are correct, the 235/40/19 and 255/40/19 setup will give you the mild stretch you are looking for. But without a drop, you should just go for 245/35/19 and 275/35/19. Stretch only when needed, if you decide to lower the car and go for an aggressive setup then a stretch would be a good idea.

To be flush without a drop you could go for something around +25 offset all around. You can do a search and see some setups on stock ride height and see what you like best.

Look at my reply to Arty_Harvy. That's about what you should be looking into.
If you want 20" wheels then you can get the same setup just 1" bigger in diameter and go for 245/35/20 and 275/30/20 tires instead.

You'll need 225/35 up front to match the rear stretch since you're running 8.5" wheels.
Get 30mm spacers for the rear and put the 25mm spacers up front and it'll be nice and aggressive. You'll need to roll and pull the rears and dial in some camber.

Thank you for the info....another ? I was just wondering about. If I tried to run the rears on the front instead of the 8.5s would there be a issue with rubbing on the inside of the wells? Or would it just stick out too far? Reason I ask is I originally want a 10" wide wheel for the front but since I came across these for so cheap. I checked the manufacturer and thy dont make it in anything else but a 8.5 and a 10.5. If it will fit and get me to where I am trying to be look wise they are fairly inexpensive and I can just buy 2 more.

Hey guys, got a lot of rubbing up front I'm trying to cure, looking for advice...

Here's the set up:
Springs: 350Z S-Techs
Rims: 19" OEM Rays
Tires: 245/35 front, 255/40 rear
Spacers: 20mm front, 25mm rear

But here's the funny thing, I have camber kits (front and rear). Front kit has the shims installed, so that's like a 5-10mm spacer right there. So my front's rub a lot. They look more flush than the rears, actually. Rears only rub on big turns or if I have passengers. Rear fenders are not rolled, btw. Prolly not goin to.

I'm probably gonna switch out my front spacers for 15mm or maybe even 10mm, but will that be enough alone? I need to get rear tires very soon. Will going back to 225/40 and 245/40 set up help at all? I like the look of the 245/255 set up, but I would prefer not to screw up my front fenders by rubbing on every decent dip.

I wanna figure this out soon before I order my rear tires whether I'm sticking with 245/255, or going back to 225/245. 225/255 is another option, but that would probably look a little off.

Thanks!
