Wrathernaut's Double-Din Installation FAQ, Shopping and Resource List
Just wanted to say thanks to Wrathernaut for all his help, both in this topic and other posts I've made. I've gone from CD swallowing, power fluctuating Bose hell to Jensen DVD player goodness. As an added bonus, it appears to have also fixed the airbag light coming on with no apparent error code (one week down without the symbol coming on- usually happens within one or two drives after reset).
So, Wrathernaut, legend among auto audiophiles, thanks!
I would send you my old headunit.....but it's a bit far down under, it's a JDM unit and I completely destroyed it retrieving the stuck discs and then raided the unit for the aux, aerial and steering control sockets... :-)

awe, and i forgot to get good pics of the axxcess wired up. it is a very simple hookup though, just like wrath has it linked in the first post here, worked perfect. black to ground, one to ign, ground a pin, and two other wires go to two pins, program it and done

^ My choice in the non-navigation sub-$400 new unit range.
If you have a iPhone, here's an interesting way to go:

alright I swear last question. So i had an aftermarket amp hooked up for my subs, but still have all of the stock speakers. So would they have removed the old stock amp as well or do I just have two amps running? And if I probably have both amps still do I just buy both wiring harnesses?
Both amps should still be hooked up, i had a 12" type r with 500 watt amp added to my bose system and both amps are still running. And you should only need the 1 wiring harness. My for my subs they actually just spliced into bose low frequency line and didnt use the harness they told me to buy.
Im curious though wrathernaut. Having my subs connected through that low frequency line. When i add my double din, will i not be able to controll the sub volume with the subwoofer controlls on the deck?
Also how much a regular price be to have my double din installed including installing the video bypass and the steering wheel controlls, i have been quoted from visions(im in canada) 116$ for the deck 50$ for the bypass and 50$ for the steering wheel controlls, and then from another place 100$ for the deck and 75$ for the steering wheel controll. they kinda laughed at charging me for installing the bypass. the guide to rip apart everything seems easy enough. but i know nothing about wiring everything

Thanks, i've been looking all on these forums, but do you know if there is a diy guide with picture showing me how to hook up the steering wheel controlls? I've not done any wiring myself and am afraid to mess up a brand new deck/anything with my car. But im in school and hurting for cash and dont wanna pay for the install, Or do you know any guides from people wiring up their dd?ive found teh disassembly. that you link which is super helpful.
the steering wheel control adapter is very easy if you get the one recommended on the first post. it is literally as easy as the instructions that wrath links you to. and the connector to use is one of the only ones left over after you wire other things up, and i believe its the only one that has that specific pin configuration

I'd recommend running your own RCAs from the new headunit to your amp, but I am using the factory wring from the trunk to the doors and I can't imagine that you'd get audibly better quality audio if you ran your own.
I'm super broke right now, but my car's radio/ac has been broken even longer.
I have an 03 sedan with navigation. I looked at your instructions to trim the JDM dash kit to fit the navigation, but it looks like that's for the 05-07 model. Can I do the same to the 03-04 dash kit? Or does the 03-04 JDM kit already fit both non-navi and navigation models?
OR I was just thinking of getting a cheaper metra kit since I'm broke and it's much cheaper. Could I just remove my navigation and install the metra kit? To be honest, I don't even really care about the navigation. I use my phone to find places now.
