All you have to do is dremel a few spots on the metra kit and the navigation will fit.

Take this picture to them, and make them do it right:

btw the back peice im talking bout is the one that is screwed down behind the clock and goes all the way down to the HU...
Yeah no the way I envisioned it was that you could remove the part of the DD kit that came out on the other side of the AC vents (the ones that are either black or willow). Willow matches my interior but I have black on my DD kit and I thought I could swap this out, but its not looking like I can

i also dont see a amp gound coming off of the pac system.. on the metra kit its a black/gray wire for amp ground and blue/white wire for amp turn on and for this pac kit its only blue/white but its for AMP TRIGGER... not quite sure what the difference is maybe its hooked up to the black wire for all the ground. because my radio turns on with ignition turn on and all everythng else works fine just very very very faint sound when the volume is all the way up. and i think i have everything else wired up right

Thank you. Is there a guide on what to dremel?

I showed them that pic and they said it's too hard and would take hours to do. BS.

Those guys didn't even want to try.

Well, I haven't tried modifying one myself, as nobody's come to me needing that done, but somebody who did sent me this shot, highlighting what had to be trimmed on both sides - full disclosure though, he ended up going with a JDM trim afterwards as he wasn't happy with the hack-job:

Oh, and if you're feeling adventurous, you can send me the entire nav screen, bracket, trim and such and I'll do what I can, but no promises, and you've got to include return shipping. It may take hours, but it's a hobby I enjoy, so I don't really care, it's not my job, I don't need to make money off it.

So that's it? I just have to trim a little off the back??

Those ****ing lazy *** installers!

We would have gladly paid a little extra money to get that done.

^ But you shouldn't have had to pay them extra. They accepted the job and didn't deliver what they said they could. Smells vaguely of fraud

Next time get stuff like that in writing - "We will install xxx radio in your G35, and keep factory navigation working for $xxx". It makes it much easier to get them to do it right, and if they don't, then small claims court will chew them up and give you the money to get a JDM kit

If you run it down the center console, you don't need a lot. I think 12 feet should do it easily.

First of HUGE props to Wrathernaut for the shopping list and all the help.

I just picked up a Pioneer AVIC-X930BT and was wondering if the bypass procedure has changed?

When looking through forums I came accross this video which seems to suggest I have to move a wire before grounding the bypass: http://youtu.be/xjUq0_hCDLQ

Is this what I need to do for the bypass?

Also is it possible to have the bypass on a switch so as to minimize the chances of getting caught with an illegal in dash video screen (the law in Ontario requires the video/some nav features to not work while in motion). A friend of mine installed a switch on an older AVIC unit, but I am not sure if the bypass procedure has changed.

Thanks.

if your talkin about the AC control buttons, yes you can swap em out, i also have willow. i broke my temp up/down and auto econ so those are still black. ide post a pic but my work blocked photobucket -_- so ill ahve to edit this post later w/ pics. if your not, i have no idea of what part your tlakinb about, if u mean the part that you move around to control where your air is flowing, and the fins behind it that move to direct the airflow? then idk how to swap that out, but its not even noticable imo...

i would try wiring the amp ground to your stereo's ground if thats the case. maybe you just got a jacked up PAC? idk, never messed w/ them :| if it works, i would give the amp its own ground tho, I just went down by my shifter and took out a screw down there, i wanted a new ground for my navi voice fix.

deff agree w/ wrath on this one, u shouldnt have had to pay em extra, sure they shouldnt have hacked up ur stuff w/o asking but they SHOULD have asked... they already had it out, n it woulda taken and extra few minutes to trim a lil off the back.
