What is the gap around the face of the radio with the JDM trim, and how do I avoid it?
This is the gap in question:

Some radios come with trim rings that fill the gap, others do not. Checking the product photos may show one, I have found www.sonicelectronix.com has pretty detailed photos of the parts that come with a radio, so you can tell if it has one. You're looking for something like this, which happens to come with the Clarion NX602 and the Pioneer AVH-P8400BH:

If you don't see one with the radio you want, do not worry, they are not very expensive at all, typically running around $10 on amazon. All you need to do is cut the outer edge of the trim ring to fit into the inside of the JDM dash trim, like this.

Don't glue it in immediately, it has to be adjusted to where the face of the radio comes through. Use sticky-tac or another mailable putty that can hold it in place well enough while you test-fit, then hot-melt glue it into its final resting place. Depending on the radio, you may only need a small strip of the plastic along only one or more sides, rather than the complete ring.

My Radio Sticks Out! or My Radio Is Sunken In! ... How do I Flush-Mount My Radio?
Here's some examples of non-flush installations:
Bad angle:

Recessed:

Sticking Out:

If you don't want your radio to do this, all you need is a drill. Put your radio into the metal bracket, put the trim on, and angle the radio properly so that it's flush with the trim. Mark where the mounting holes for your radio are (card-stock, tape or another method can be used to precisely mark the holes) and drill new ones into the metal bracket. You'll end up with it looking like this from the side:

And like this when installed:

Dual climate control button swap - obviously, you'll use your old one as a source and put it on the JDM controls, but this video shows how it's done. 05-07 don't need to do this, as there are dual-equipped a/c controls available. 03-04 never had dual climate as an option in Japan, so you have to DIY.

The video is of an 05-07, because I used one of my own units for the video, and I don't own an 03-04, but the procedure is the same, regardless.

PAC SWI-PS Programming Video. As I only recommend the PAC SWI units for Pioneer units with voice recognition, this is the recommended programming sequence:

I have a lot of questions about install double din.

1. PAC ROEM-NIS2 'switched power' and the 'antenna amp/power antenna' both connect with the same a red wire on Headunit harness ? because there is only one red wire on my headunit harness.

2. about the Other Connections part, are those necessary to connect ??? or I can skip it if I don't need it ?

3. before I had 4 wires to connect the factory radio, right now I just connect two out of four
(without steering wheel controls) and it has sound. Is it right ??

THanks for helping me (((

1) Yes, they all go to the same power.
2) Only necessary if your headunit requires it.
3) Well, only two of them go to the radio. The 3rd goes to the a/c controls, and the last one carries the vehicle speed sensor, steering wheel controls and nav voice (if you had nav). So only two harnesses are actually "radio" harnesses, the others are for the additional functions that are on the factory radio/hvac cluster.

To install these double din aftermarket HU's, do we need to buy any wiring harnesses? I've bought all of the parts and am having some issues on determining how it all goes together. For instance, trying to connect the ASWC to a Pioneer AVH-8400BH and it states things like, "Connect the Gray/Red wire of the ASWC to pin 4 of the vehicle." And the picture they show doesn't match up with the plug that goes into the back of the 8400. So I'm not sure which connector I'm supposed to be using, and I wanted to confirm that I didn't need to buy any wiring harnesses?
....*update*...
I thought that I had connected everything correctly, and hooked it back up in my car. The only problem is that I now have 3 connectors that don't match up with anything. I've uploaded two pictures of the "extra" connectors. The two white connector/harnesses that are from the car and the one smaller black connector with green tape on it is from the stereo. Nowhere to plug these in.
I plugged everything in that had a match and turned on the power. The power to the 8400 comes on fine and it can find radio stations (it knows their information), but no sound. I put in a CD and it shows that it's playing, but no sound. The stereo seems to be working fine as I can go through menus and insert/remove CDs and remove the face plate.
Also, when I first turned on the power, my stock Navi started to move up and it doesn't want to stay down/closed. It keeps popping open as soon as it closes. When it's open, I cannot use the "OK" button to clear the default message, so I'm assuming the green tape wire picture is the connector for the stock Navi.

I know that I don't know a lot about electronics (that's apparent to everyone now), but I thought that I followed all of the instructions on the parts that I purchased.
Any help or ideas of something to try would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

I own an 2004 G sedan. When I bought the car 2 months ago it had a problem in the radio/AC system. It kept turning on and off randomly on me and when it turned off the AC would blow full Cold air on me. After doing some research I learned this problem is common and it was the Circuit board as the dealer told me, so I decided to go metra kit and double din TV. I installed the metra kit and so far the AC works perfectly, but the radio would not even turn on when I connected all the harness. I thought it was the radio so I sent it back and they sent a new radio and it's still the same problem I'm really frustrated!!! Note: my car has the basic system not the BOSE system, so I might not even need one of the connectors I have that says is for amp,!or should I use it for my aftermarket one? Thanks a bunch!!!!
