Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

Let me be one of the first to say these two mods are great and well worth every penny. I would have paid even more for the VDC memory device.

Thanks Kevin. Your work has made the car much more enjoyable.

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

Hey Ron I'm in Chicago (Forest View) all week if you need anything let me know. Sounds like you went through some hoops to get the remote start to work, but I'm sure it is well worth it. It might be possible to switch up between lock/unlock pulses to get the remote start to work - like by pressing 'lock' and then 'unlock' within one second, or really any combination of buttons you need. Let me know if you are interested, carrying around an extra keyfob can be a pain.

Oh, and my drive from Dayton to Chicago took me 10 hours today! A really bad accident on 65 and the fact that I was in the office in Indy forever cuz no one knows whats going on in the world around them....

korz: Just to clarify..those were all problems related to a conflict between Kevin's unit and your Viper alarm, correct?

Got caught in a big thunderstorm. It was a pleasure to stay dry while rolling up the windows.

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

redwillow: i think his problem lies in the fact that he was tryin to use a viper remote start system to start the car, while using the oem remote. so to answer your question yes there was a conflict because of the extra pulses need to make the car start and those extra pulses cause the window mod to stop the windows. this happened cause when you push the lock button twice within a sec the windows will start to go up, but if the mod detechs another pulse it will stop the windows where they are. basically its a built in saftey feature incase something is in the way.

hows that for constructive?

2. Tried remote start on the OEM unlock button with three presses.

korz: sure you dont mean the oem lock button. if you do mean the unlock button the there would be a conflict between the 2. however the info about the pulses and the safety feature are not wrong.

In reply to:

Also the wife left her OEM keyfob with me and tried to get in with the valet key. She turned the key three times toward the front and started the car, and did she ever get a surprise. Another time she pressed the keyfob twice to make sure the doors were locked, and the car started.

this would just be a problem with the viper system trying to use the oem remote and not its own. so it doesnt have anything to do with the window mod.

hope that clears it up a bit for you guys.

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

The problem with using lock (or unlock) pulses to trigger something is that there is always room for error. Especially considering when you turn the key in the drivers cylinder the car automatically power locks both doors (or unlocks the doors). This is why the key in the cylinder would start the car (or even roll up the windows if the window mod is installed)

Interfacing with factory electronics is an almost impossible thing to do perfectly. Without actually reflashing hte BCM with updated coding to include the window up feature it will never be 'perfect.' But, from our extensive beta testing we have found that our solution is as close as you can get. I, and most other people I have found, NEVER put thier key in the cylinder (unless the battery is dead). I have a keyfob and I use it. I'm always afraid of missing the cylinder and scratching the car! So, I have never actually accidently put the windows up on my car.

And yes, I'm sure Ron meant that it worked on LOCK pulses. One quick solution would be to switch it to the unlock wire.

Hope this clears some stuff up,
any questions let me know!

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

Kevin,

That is the correct button. LOCK. And the interference was totally from the Viper Valet, which is now solved with its own remote (I do think keeping it a seperate tiny remote for start is best).

I had to explain to her that you turn the key to the rear to unlock the doors. Thats how un-nerved she was.

Ron.

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

do all of you actually drive with the VDC off that much for this module. I still don't see what the benefit of it is. Maybe its beacuse I am in sunny florida? I dunno. I definately think it is a great think, but I really don't need it.
Waiting for my window roll-up though!!!!

I'm done spending money on my car for a month!!!!!
Anyone selling a boat or waverunner???? I would be interested...if your in Florida.

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

As far as a wait goes, we already sent out every order that was placed on Monday. All orders placed Tuesday and after will go out either this Friday or Saturday. This really wasn't a good week for us to start selling things, but I didn't want to put off opening the site for another 7 days. Both my brother and I are out of town this week (I'm in Chicago and he is in Detroit) so we had to pull some strings to get the orders shipped out so quick how it is. As soon as one of us returns to the Dayton area the next shipment will go out. We have a very limited quantity for now, but I just placed an order for more boards last night - however they will take about 4-5 weeks to be manufactured. Hopefully what we have now will last us!

As far as the VDC goes, I wanted it on my car for track use. Last season I got a little nervous when I pulled up to the line and forgot to shut VDC off. I looked like an idiot. However, since I don't have plans to go to the track anytime TOO soon I have yet to put the VDC module on my car!

Thanks!

Kevin
