Whine

After installing a DLS RA30 amp, UP6 speakers, & MW110 sub, I'm getting a faint constant wine when the stereo is on. It does not increase in pitch with engine speed. Is this a ground problem? Maybe my power/ground wires are to close to the signal wires?

Thanks for any suggestions to this stereo install noob

It may be a grounding issue however, make sure that you do not have your gain turned up to high on the amp. That can cause a noise like you are describing.

Thanks JWise....I followed the instructions in the DLS paperwork about turning the gain down, turning the stereo up until I hear distortion, then turning the volume down a notch, then turning the gain up on the amp until I hear distortion. The gain is up almost all the way because I didn't hear any distortion. I'll try turning it down to see if that fixes it.

Does it stop when you turn the stereo off, or continue?

It continues(the Bose HU control wire sends power as long as the ignition is on). I tried adjusting the gain....didn't matter. I disconnected the RCA's one by one to see if it was a signal issue, and it appears that it is...the right front RCA is picking up interference from somewhere. Since I tapped into the stock wiring at the Bose amp location, I'm not sure how to fix this....any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

PS. Amthar....I have the same issue, but on an order of magnitude higher than girlfriend.......wife!!!

While it's not really a fix, if you don't use the fader you can just split the rears to feed all 4 speakers since the rear feeds don't seem to produce the whine. Just a thought.

So if you connect that RCA to other input channels you have the same noise in that channel?

Any possibility that channel's RCA got pinched to ground?

I tried that also(sorry I didn't add it)....changed the right front RCA to another channel & I still get the whine. From the point of the Bose amp connection, to the DLS amp, I enclosed the speaker wire & RCA cables into loom(left side of trunk). I ran the power, ground, and control wire in their own loom(right side of trunk). So, I don't think it could be pinched to ground.

I have the same exact problem and I have tried EVERYTHING.

Try this... http://www.myradiostore.us/noise-fil...ers/nf-40.html

I just ordered it and I hope it solves my issue. I was going to try some Ground Loop Isolators but I don't have any humming issues whatsoever, just alternator whine.

FYI, apparently something was up with one channel on his deck. When he didn't use the F channels and took the R channels into "Y" adapters and ran the F and the sub off of that, he had zero noise.

He swapped L and R RCA connections at the OEM amp location and the noise remained on the same output of the deck, implying that it was not the RCA or the amp and it was the deck OP.

Bit of a mystery, I'm afraid.
