Good job on getting it done!
I am the oringal owner. Mine is a 2005, not sure if the previous years were smaller. Never changed them before either.

With not much mechanical experience, I can do one side solo under and hour….only because I had to pop them in and out a few times

But many thanks to this forum

Oh, ok. Mine is an 04 so they could have been revised in 05. Maybe that's why the aftermarket ones are 22. Originally tho mine were 19.

I'm glad I changed out my own…made me learn more about my car. No doubt it's easier if you have a friend too. Just borrow a ball joint press kit from your local auto store, make sure you buy the right parts and you should be good to go.

Does the balljoint press that you can rent come with everything you need to do the job??

It doesn't come with a pickle fork/prybar (I needed a 3 footer to get that cone off), a wrench or a breaker to use on the wrench. I used a 4' fence pipe on the end of the wrench; Made it real easy.

I couldn't get my cones off...but never thought about adding an extension to the pickle fork. Good advice here.

Oh, yeah, I tossed the pickle fork aside and got a big prybar. Still had to put all my body weight on it and bounce up and down. Thing shot off like a bullet when it finally gave.

Hey,

I saw this thread come up so I thought I would share what I had recently done on my '07 G35x.

Sooo....$800 later.......Front passenger side lower suspension replaced, ($550), alignment ($120), plus taxes....everything is all good to go....

Here are the pricier part numbers to what was replaced....

54500-1NA4B (lower link) ($300)
55044-EG01A, 54550-EG00A, 54580-EG00A, 40262-EG010 ($24), 40173-EG000, 39241-CG027($60), etc...etc...

That balljoint is irreplaceable. You have to buy the whole arm. I sell the whole arm with energy bushings pregreased and pressed in if you're interested.

Oh well. I already have the Whiteline bushing installed in it so I'm just going to pick up another arm and swap the bushing.

Is there any other way besides buying the entire knuckle to get a front lower ball joint for 06 G35 AWD? I have already ordered a Vollig part off of ebay and the shaft was thinner in diameter. Should I be using a thicker sleeve?
