i got mine from ebay . but at the time there weren't any other options that didn't cost a lot. the rubber caps wont fit so you`d have to get a different set, i think made by white line

Saying that from actual experience? Just curious. I own a honda as well and have new ball joints for that as well so spending the $ on the tool would be worthwhile if it works.

Yes. My buddy has a 100gal tank and a pro-shop worth of tools. I tried it when I did mine hoping for extreme ease with the air. Wouldn't even touch it. Those ball joints are in there tight as fug. I used a 4-foot breaker and it still took a decent amount of effort with the autozone kit.

When you used the Autozone balljoint kit, did you require any additional balljoint receivers in order to remove the balljoint? Or did the Autozone kit have everything needed to remove the balljoint? The reason that I ask is because a few pages back, AARONHL stated that the Autozone kit had a receiver that was too small to remove the balljoint.and he recommended the one from Advance Auto. Since there is no Advance Auto in AZ, I'm hoping to find out how the Autozone kit worked for you.

I used the autozone kit for the whole job. The thing is, you gotta get creative. The closest "receiving" cup is a bit too big, but the "pressing" cup works fine.

What I did was have my friend hold the receiving cup steady and make sure everything was going in straight, while I used a ratchet with a 4' fence pole slipped over the handle for leverage. You just gotta get creative with the placement of everything, and I don't think it would have happened without a helper. It would have been extremely frustrating anyway.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to check with Autozone to find out if any of their adapter sets that they also have on the loaner program will have the 2 7/16 ID receiving cups that are needed to get the steering knuckle ball joint pressed out as well.

I just completed replacing the drivers side ball joint on my 03 coupe. I bought the ball joint from Concept Z performance and it seems like a quality unit. Also, since i live in AZ and there is no Advanced Auto to rent the ideal ball joint press kit, I rented the ball joint press kit from my local Autozone and also rented the Ball Joint adapter set #27166. They worked perfectly. I've never pressed out anything before and these two kits made it a trouble free job.
