NEW SPL PRO front compression rod bushings
Hi ELMACHOGERACHO,
are you sure coupe/sedan/awd rod are interchangeable? I have 2003 sedan rwd, replace bush didn't fix clunk, shop guy said rod's ball joint is bad. I am looking for a pair rod, and coupe/awd one(54468-AC71F) seems cheaper.
Thanks!

i just talked to our 6yr parts guy and coupe comp rods and rwd sedan comp rods are different. coupe bushings can not be baught separate, and have no air gap on the bushing like sedan bushings do. a coupe full comp rod will work on a sedan as i have installed a set on one before.
I still need to change the outer tie rod ends and sway bar end links in the front with SPL parts to complete it. I cant wait to do that!

Well now, I just found these today. I had the car in the shop just to check it out since I installed the lower arms a couple of months ago and just started getting that loose suspension part sound again. Shop just ordered new arms and I didn't know that I could just replace the bushings. They checked and saw that it was the comp rods that were going out now. After 100k mles, that's pretty good. The only other option I found was that through www.mynismo.com they have the OEM bushings available seperate now. I am definitely going to get the SPL's though, now that I see I have an aftermarket choice. I am really glad to see that they work so well.
Thanks Andrei for the info you've givin.

Ray

I have another update. First I want to apologize to SPL and everyone on this thread who read the updates on NVH that I posted because they are inaccurate. So I am sorry if anyone took the updates on NVH as a reason NOT to install/buy the SPL bushings and I am truly sorry if SPL lost any customers as a result. They make a cutting edge product at a very reasonable price and they deserve all the positive recognition for it.
The reason why the updates on NVH were inaccurate was because the tires on the front on my car were severely worn so my assumption that the bushings caused some additional NVH was inaccurate but it is true that they require some time to break in.
I installed new tires today on the front and there is absolutely no NVH over stock. I am willing to say that the car is actually quieter than stock. These bushings exceeded my expectations 10 times over once I had the new tires installed. Anyone else should not hesitate to install the bushings anymore. For the money, cornering and braking ability they are 100% worth it.
Here are pics of the old tires vs new. The old tires wore out faster after installing the bushings because the car needed an alignment. I didn't even know it was this bad. Alignment will be done tomorrow possibly.

UPDATE
For those of you who will install these or already have them installed re-torque the bolts to the compression rods or any other bushings. My driver side started making noise and found out that the bolt was far too loose and I tighten it with a ratchet as much as I could and noise is gone. Also a good idea to lubricate them with teflon lubricant once a year - a small task that is worth the benefits.

Proper way is to torque the compression arm nut to 114Ft LBS, and the other suspension components to specified torque and that way the fasteners won't loosen up.

Got alignment today. Everyone was impressed how fast the car got back into alignment compared to any other cars they had all thanks to the SPL solid bushings.
Was done in about 30min.

BTW everyone needs to make sure no brake fluid/clutch fluid gets into the bearing on the driver side. If any gets spilled it will drain down the subframe into the bushing and it will go bad. No way to fix it after. Replace. Put a piece of cloth between the bushing and subframe to prevent brake fluid from going into it.

Ok, as a result of everyones satisfaction with SPL comp rod bushings, i will have to make the order...I need to replace them anyway...I was going to go with the mynismo.com $25 ones...obviously after reading these comments, i have to go with the SPL's!
Does anyone have the SPL lower control arm busings also?

SPL Bushings
I got some SPL lower control arm bushings as well as the compression rod bushing, but have not had them installed yet... Been driving around with the clunking, creaking, and the slight floating feeling from left to right...
Gotta get off my butt
and get these installed. I understand with the compression rod bushings the noise wasn't too bad, but how about with the front lower?? Anyone with both installed or know of anyone with both, please chime in.. Gonna do it regardless, but just wondering what I should expect.

Finally installed them. Took 4 hours but me and Kenny took a 20min break when the $100,000 ice cream truck came.
Compression rod and lower control arm bushings changed, 3 per side. The compression rods already had the revised bushings and only one had a tiny crack in it with 60k miles on it, caused problems. Kenny was going to use a puller to get them off but I pulled them off the frame stud with my hands. The lower control arm was the hardest to install back but it came out VERY easy. Overall the car was pure joy to work on and it was very easy and a lot of fun even though it was hot as hell and my shirt and pants were soaked in my own sweat.
me and Kenny were also impressed by how light the compression rods and LCAs are. Seemed to be forged.
Anyone in GA who wants bushings installed for compression rods and LCAs me and Kenny will charge $250/3 bushings per side. PM me if interested.
The car is a dream to drive now compared to before. I can drive it harder, brakes are sharper and don't skip off the rotors, cornering is sharper and it no longer "walks" on the freeway changing lanes and stays laser straight despite the car needing an alignment. Will get even better when I change the front tires and alignment. I am really impressed and surprised how a car that costs 35k new can brake and corner so well now all thanks to SPL. This is by far the best mod I've done so far. I look forward to installing and buying more parts from SPL.

Had to take pics of the $100,000 rolling truck. Made in USA tools.
