Andrei, were the compression rod bushing very difficult to press out? Do you think they can be pressed out with a vice or a even a big G-clamp? I have ordered the compression rod bushings and considering whether I should buy a cheap hydraulic press or try to DIY it with basic tools. Thanks.

The TSB calls for up to 4.5 tons force or 9000 pounds force. I don't think you'll get that out of a c-clamp or vise...

I bought this press specifically for this job:
Amazon Amazon

I justified buying the press by getting the cheaper OEM bushings instead of the SPL ones. 1 press + 2 oem bushings ~= 2 SPL bushings not installed

So is it $167.00 for 2 bushings?

Or is it 167 each bushing?

Used spherical bushings on my s14 240sx. They wear out extremely quickly if exposed to dirt. They wear out even quicker when there's water delivering dirt into the bushings. My friends used SPL control arms with similar bushings. They all wore out and started to clunk within a year. They are probably good for track, but daily driving will wear them out mainly because dirt will go in. I don't think they are teflon coated either.

I guess these feel exactly like the OEM in terms of ride quality. The price is a big difference but driving in NY i think these will last much better with worse roads then the oem.

What is the noise when the compression rod goes back?

Would it be necessary to replace the front lower arm bushings as well? That's an extra $300 from SPL.

not unless they've gone out... I'll end up replacing my lower arm bushings as a preventative measure because after feeling the SPL compression rod, I know it will only get better the more I replace.
