Yeah sorry, I meant to post and 03's or early 04's with a 3.7 etc...
I think we're on to something about the 04.5 what with them changing shif logic etc... they could have changed the CC programming as well.

Would you mind checking next time you get a chance? It would be nice to know 'for sure'

Hmmmm....mine's the 07/02. Apparently the last month before the 03.5. I'm assuming you're running OEM height tires too.

No, my tires are 2% shorter than stock 245/35/19.

2003.5 was build date of 08/02? thats odd...I would think it would have been somewhere around the beginning of 03.

According to www.car-part.com, when searching for a trunk lid for an 03 sedan, the 03.5 switch is noted as 08/02.

FWIW - yesterday on road trip out of town I had wide open desert hwy and was able to do several runs to 100... CC works to 90mph and thats it. If I accelerate with foot to 100 then set cc it decelerates to 90 then stays... if
I accelerate with thumb control, it gets to 90 and wont go past... So CC works fine at all speeds to 90mph.

Also, after doing several hard 0-70 runs (data-logging different stuff) and very spirited street driving for 40-50 miles, then road trip (287 miles) avg 70mph, my avg mpg was just under 19... with 3.3 when I drove daily 50/50 street & hwy I usually got 18-19mpg... with the 3.7 I hardly drive the car and its mostly spirited street with some fwy; normally get 15-16mpg... so the 18.88 that I got on this trip was pretty good (without the super aggressive street driving prior, I could have got 19-20).

I case anyone cares

What was your cruise speed? Was it hilly? Are your 19s w/tires a lot heavier than stock? That MPG seems really low, even 19/20 would be low, assuming you're going 70-75mph. However, you do have a lot of mods and maybe the cams could be influencing the mpg a bit. Another guess would be the higher rpms in 5th with the 3.7 gears at highway speeds may actually be putting the ECU outside it's economy mode which I believe is 2900rpms or lower.

I've never had good mpg on this car, ever. When I drove it daily I only avg'd 18-20 (prior to many existing mods)...

Avg speed on road trip was 70... front tires @ 35psi, rear 33... no hills or switchbacks... current wheels & tires are very close to weight of OEM 17" setup. I previously tested mpg with 3.7 to 3.3 its maybe 1mpg less... but I do so much spririted street driving in performance ECU map that combined witht he 3.7 my mpg is normally really, really low.

On my way home I will top off tank before I leave and calculate the actual fwy mpg (I'm guessing it will be nearly 20, which is as good as this car has ever gotten when driven daily).

I think part of the reason you get such bad gas mileage is because California gas SUCKS NUTS. When I had my BMW I remember getting about 3 MPG less when I lived in Cali then I got here in UT.

When I have driven (3.3 FD) between UT and PHX I get 25-29 MPG at about 80 MPH average. I expect that the same results could be achieved with the the 3.5 just at around 75 MPH.
