Hey everyone! I Just wanted to thank the author of this thread and everybody's thoughts and remarks about everything said in this thread. I was gonna go to a shop but decided to try to change the driver side bank 2 cam sensor myself. It was a scary process for me because im a noob when it comes to repair and putting complex things back together. Anyways I just finished and it took me about an hour. CEL light is off, but that might be because i disconnected the battery, so only time will tell. I took my g for a spin though and i feel that I have more power accelerating. We will see what happens, just wanted to say thanks!

Should the connector separate easily for the passenger side? I'm having difficulty separated the sensor from the clip. Please Help!

Thanks...Trickstyle gave a great explanation and visual..

i got this pic Evan78, but i took a pliers and squeezed the clip inward(the arrows on the picture) then the sensor came out with ease. DO NOT pull on the wires, my buddy did his 350z at the same time and he pulled a wire out of the harness :/ we soldered it back it but it took a while.

Reference: Service Engine Soon, VDC Off, Slip lights are all on Post #55

Error codes:
P0340 = bad passenger side cam position sensor (right hand side)
P0345 = bad driver side cam position sensor (left hand side)

Damn, went to go look at a new 2010 G yesterday. Today, my current 2004 G dies on my way home from work. I now need to replace one of these sensors before I can trade the 2004 in. Infiniti stealing some more of my cash! Bas+ard$!

In reality, my 2004 has been problem free, this is the first real issue. So, I really cannot complain. Good info in this thread!

I've had my 05 since 2009 and i've had 2 problems, last year was the drivers side cam sensor and on sunday the passenger side cam shaft sensor went. And I could tell something was wrong with my car 2 weeks ago almost stalling, running rough but nothing happened to it till i went 60 miles to maine and died right on the st at a red light. thankfully the car stars fine unlike when the driver side went.

Going to replace it later today. Hopefully it will go smooth. =/ we'll see. I used an Aftermarket part from Advance Auto Parts and i've had no issues.

It's a good idea to replace all cam shaft sensors - most of people here have talked about 2 sensors (L & R) but there's third one (called Sensor Assy Magnet) right behind oil pan area in transmission- behind second cover behind the engine cover area- I just replaced all three on the advise my Infiniti service tech.
Part numbers: 23731-AL61A (driver side), 23731-AL60A (passenger side), 23731-6J90B ( behind oil pan area)
The info in this thread is very useful. Thanks to all the contributors.

FYI: Besides getting all three sensors, get the throttle body gasket and replace it when reinstalling throttle control actuator back. You can also clean the throttle actuator while it's out. Reset ECU after all done.

Good luck

part number for the driver side (23731-AL61A) id located under the throttle control actuator- Driver side:

1) Remove the air intake tube from the air filter housing all the way up to the throttle body.

2) Remove the the throttle body electrical connector.

3) Remove the throttle body (in blue). It's held in place by 4 hex bolts. Remove all 4 bolts and the throttle body will come right off. Just below it (in green) is the cam sensor. PHOTO #1

4) Remove the PCV hose (Large black hose which connects from the manifold to the air intake tube).
