7th wire install

I finally got around to installing the 7th wire. Here is a pictorial of the install. Mind you, I have a 350Z and the rear connection point on the passenger’s side is slightly different. Those of you who have purchase kits have the instructions and know what I am talking about.

Safety first: Work only on a cool or cold engine. Hot engines will burn you!

This procedure requires you to lift the car. Be sure to block the rear wheel when working and only use certified jacks, jack stands or ramps.

1.Remove the bolt holding down the #4 wire at the rear of the engine on the passenger’s side.

2.Add the #7 wire to the same position and re-secure.

3.Route the wire down toward the transmission along the firewall. Preferably, follow the wire loom that goes down to the tranny. Run the wire on the inside (closer to the center of the car) of the wire loom. Be sure to avoid the exhaust manifold and any other heated surface.

4.Remove the bottom 10mm bolt that secures a gold colored bracket. This bracket also secures the above mentioned wire loom.

5.Place the free end of the #7 wire on the bracket and replace the bolt.

Re: Hyper-Ground Kit-Experiences, Feedback, Etc.

Gordgee,

OK, I must have the kit. I understand you are making and selling
to the board members? How do I go about having you make one
for my G35 5AT?

Regards,
Cato

Great pictorial on the 7th wire!

BTW, what is the purpose of the metal bar that lays over the engine on the Z and Coupe? The G sedan doesn't have that...and was wondering why and what advantage (if any) it provides to the car. Thanks

Slinkiboi5,
That bar is a strut tower brace bro. They don't make them yet for our G's but hopefully soon. They help stiffen the front end and reduce flex by tieing the strut towers together. An excellent mod if they offer the parts.

That's cool! Have you ever driven the Z with and without the strut bar, can you really tell a difference? I've taken some pretty hash turns with my sedan and it seems very solid...

I haven't driven the Z with one installed. I've noticed a diff on my GT Mustangs tho. Quite impressive on those 'soft' setups.
On our G's it would help some but I doubt anything your really gonna notice. The chassis and bodies are quite stiff to start with. Still I'll install one when they are available. What little flex there is will be eliminated. L8r dude......

Re: Hyper-Ground Kit-Experiences, Feedback, Etc.

I put a front strut tower brace on my 2000 Maxima. What a difference!!
Then I added the Stillen rear sway bar. The 2 mods made the Maxima
into a different type of sports sedan. From what I understand, the
G35 has a completely different front suspension than the Maxima,
and it may not benefit as much as the front wheel drive cars do.

Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

After driving for a few days with the kit in and keeping an eye on gas I find that the grounding kit does little if anything for my gas mileage. BUT... it makes my gas gauge much more accurate. By this i mean, when i start the car, the needle always moves to where it was when i turned off my car, and it does a better job of staying where it should be, not moving up or down in drastic fashion before eventually settling at the right point. (I always watch my miles driven vs where my needle is so I know at how many miles I should be at when I hit the various ticks.)

I would have liked better economy, but I wasn't expecting it anyway. Having a more accurate meter is definately nice though.

Email Gordon, he is making some of the kits but, I think he is in Canada.

I have been making them here in the States for a while now.

Check out my site: www.Z-Xtreme.com.

Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

Gordgee,

After reading thru all these posts, I wonder if the engine cover
fits over all these wires. I saw a couple of posts indicating the
cover did not fit back after installation of the wires after using kits
made by somone other than yourself. As you know, I'm in the
process of purchasing your kit. Thinking about the 7 wire, but
the transmission wire looks a little scarey! Do I need to remove
the lower engine shroud to do the 7th wire?
Regards,
Cato
