and one more question... this is the old responsible man talking... wouldn't this pretty much void any new car warranty?? essentially you are modding the car's electrical sys... i'd hate to have just spent near $40k to void the warranty with a $129 mod...

I haven't asked, but what you're doing is maxing out the cars grounding system. This shouldn't have any effect on your warranty. To be sure tho, call the service department at your dealership.

Re: Hyper-Ground Kit-Experiences, Feedback, Etc.

I checked with my local dealer. They said because it's basically downstream of any electrical components, It's passive and doesn't affect warranty. The GM has even offered to sell my kits through their parts department as a safe performance enhancement for G35s and 350Zs. I'm trying to decide whether to expand my hobby a bit as so far I've been doing these kits in limited numbers at close to the cost of materials for interested forum members to get feedback on this thread.

Gordgee, I definately feel that the car is running smoother. The kit is worth it. Shifting is crisper and throttle response is much quicker. Will be interesting to see how the 350Z duct and the HKS exhaust will feel like with the Stillen Intake and the grounding kit.

Re: Hyper-Ground Kit-Experiences, Feedback, Etc.

I have just installed SUNAuto Hyper Ground System S Type (Smoke). Too bad the original negative battery bolt fell in the battery housing and my 10mm adapter fell in the back manifold. Better Throttle Response is true, shifting got better, smoother driving, and I think my headlights got brighter.

For a bit more clarity when installing your Hyper-Ground kits, I labeled the wires according to my install instructions that some of you requested. If you follow Insanamine's Install instructions (z-xtreme.com), the only differences are #3 & #4 are swapped.

Will this fit the Altima 3.5?

I've been following this interesting topic and finally decided to register. I drive an 03 Altima 3.5SE. Since the Altima 3.5SE has the same engine as the 350Z and G35, I figure the grounding-kit that everybody uses here will fit my Altima with little or no modification? I would like to try out this kit that someone here is selling for $70?

I would like to get a 7 wire kit. Who here can make one and how much will it be?

Mtn:

Various sources for the kits are listed on page 5 of this thread. Z-xtreme.com makes a good product for a reasonable price. You'll have to check with him for the 7-wire pricing. His current tranny ground wire is very easy to install, as it is a shorter length cable that runs to the tranny filler tube. I have been making kits in limited quantities with a full length tranny ground, and am not sure if the increased difficulties of installation make a significant difference in performance.

Wooish:

Your best bet may be to buy a general commercial kit, as the custom lengths are yet to be determined (unless insaneamine has measured them, though I may go to the Nissan Dealer to do measurements). In theory, the shortest workable lengths would provide the most benefit, and will definitely look better in a custom set.

Re: Hyper-Ground Kit-Experiences, Feedback, Etc.

The supplier that I was getting the SCOSCHE cable from ran out of the clear cable that I've been using. He substituted with the SCOSCHE Red, Purple, and Black (actually a transparent smoke that, because of the copper wires, shows a kind of interesting bronzey-brown. Nice colour!) He made me an offer that I couldn't refuse, so I bought more than I usually do.

Anyone interested in some Hyper-Ground cables in these new colours, still at my Hobby-Producer price (also means you have to post your impressions!), please PM me. That includes those of you that have requested custom applications for your VQ equipped Nissans (Altima, Maxima, and Z).

I put the same kit in about an hour ago. I thinks its doing something? I hate the instructions with the kit. It seems so random. One here, one here ,one here. I justed guested as to the "best" points they referenced. It shows to grounds coming off the battery but most everyone else seems to only have one. Does it make a difference? Off to drive some more and see what happens. I also can't tput the cover back on with shaving it here and there0is this common?

Re: Hyper-Ground Kit-Experiences, Feedback, Etc.

Which (or whose) kit did you use? I know that insaneamine changed his instructions a bit to make them more clear. The pic that I posted should make his (and my) kit quite straight forward.
I don't think it makes much difference with only one cable off the battery. Some subscribe to slightly different theories when they design the kits.
With generic kits, the re-fitting of the cover can be a problem as well as look a bit cluttered.
Make sure you post your impressions after a few hours behind the wheel.

You can run the battery connection thru a rubber grommet to the battery compartment. It's a little cleaner and allows the cover to go on easily. See attached pic:

Re: Hyper-Ground Kit-Experiences, Feedback, Etc.

I used the Sun Kit type S in smoke. The system seems to help above 60 MPH and really helps with the A/C running. The kick down at speed is nice, takes it self out of overdrive first and then really gears down if need be. 80 MPH was the normal crusing speed that has now increased to about 93 MPH but it feels the same. I will post pics to show my mounting points.

I drilled twin holes in the gromet. I also used the gromet on the opposite side to do the final ground. I thought it would look nice but since I can't put the plastic cover back on without bending the hell out of the kit it seems pointless. Oh well the best laid plans. I will post pics.
