Have you stillen guys experienced carbon build up on your exhaust tips? For the 2nd time in a row, i noticed that my exhaust tips were black, like some kind of carbon build up this last time i was washing my car. Someone told me that i'm running rich fuel. Can u guys give me your opinions?. I s my car o.k? Thx

So many of us ex-Stillen owners...lol. It's been a couple years since them, and I'm so glad I don't have the shredded belts, anemic top-end, and the hood anymore. I do miss the sweet sounds at WOT though...

Well you are not along speeddream. [in a sense I guess....] I have a STILLEN Stg2 kit (brand new) sitting and collecting dust in my basement.

I can't seem to 'pull the trigger' on the installation.

I hear that the kit is pretty much a "clean, no worries" kit, but for some reason, I purchased it (did pull that trigger) and now can't seem to have Forged Peformance put it on. I'm actually thinking of keeping the coupe Naturally Aspirated.

Maybe you (Speeddream) can somehow convience me to finally get the stupid kit slapped on.

What I'm worried about:
#1) This whole belt crap I keep hearing about. My coupe is now officially a "Daily Driver" and I take my 3 yr old son to the baby sitter in the mornings on my way to work. I would HATE to have a belt shred on me - and then what?

#2) Is this kit RELIABLE? Other than the belt issue, will it eventually send my engine to the grave yard - or will my engine be fine and after 100K, throw the kit off and put her back to OEM NA mode and keep going???

#3) The CF Stillen Hood I purchased - is it going to CRACK (eventually) after opening and closing the hood. Will it BAKE in the sun all day while I'm sitting in a cubical? Unfortunately, I do not have a covered garage to sit her in all day.

Let me know your thoughts and if anyone has pictures of their coupe with this kit installed, I would LOVE to see them.

Thanks Guys!

1.The belt issue has been rectified by stillen with the 6-rib and if the belt would shred its no big deal as you can keep drivinh it......just without boost.

2.It dosent produce enough power to do any real damage to the motor.....i ran it for allmost 30,000 miles.

3.I still have the hood on and its been allmost 6 years with no cracks.

4. Get that kit installed................soon.

Yea you shoulden't worry about this kit. I have a stg 2 as well on my sedan and i have HAD no problems. And i barely put around 11k miles on it. I have the stillen carbon fiber hood and its doing swell. I'm still debating wether to go to stg4 or go turbo. But since you have it with you, why let it collect dust? Install that MF!

Ok, so I talked to Sharif at Forged (it's like bicycle distance from my work) and he is telling me the same (that's it's an really reliable kit).

I guess if I like the output/performance from Stock (we'll, I do have the STILLEN 'true dual' cat back and grounding kit - but nothing dramatic) then I'm thinking I'm surely going to love this kit - as long as I don't expect it to be the fastest Coupe on the road, much less the fastest car, so my plans are to get it done!

Glad to hear that everyone has had a good "experience" with this kit. I'll have to see if the belt they gave me in the kit was the "6-Ribbed".

I'll post pictures (probably going to take a couple months to save for the installation costs though).

GREAT pictures guys - I have NO clue why some (or really "most") the members on this forumn 'knock' the Stillen hood. I absolutely LOVE it!!!!!

That's awesome that you are still sporting the hood with a different kit "SuperchargedG"!!!

Sweet - thanks guys!!
Hope to be posting back soon!!

why dont you install it yourself? i did mine with my dad and it took 3 days..but thats cause we took our sweet time and only worked on it for 2 1/2 hrs a day. the most time consuming part in my opinion is the wiring. honestly its not a hard install. you will learn a lot about your car, and will fall deeper in love with it in the process lol.

well guys I have to admit now that I have my first problem with the supercharger. Not really a big problem... its just every once in a while I have a problem starting up the car. But when the car is running everything is fine. I had a buddy take a look at the car and he said it might be something with the 7th injector. When he disconnected it the car started up fine. He even had his boss take a look at it ( both are mechanics at a Toyota dealership) and said it may be dumping too much fuel on start up. May be a leak or something with the ECU. Anyone have any input?

Hey Man. Well, if I could I would have done that over a year ago. Unfortunately, I have all the forces working against me. One, I don't have a father that knows anything about cars in general (lol). Two, I do have some friends that would help, but my car is a daily driver and I take my son to the sitters in the morning. I don't think I could get it done in a weekend, b/c my wife (who's pregnant) would kill me - if our 3 year old son wouldn't beat me to it by driving her insane running around. Third, I'm not that "knowledgeable" to TRUST that my work was in order and wouldn't blow my engine up. LOL. I trust the guys (Sharif) over @ Forged to do the job right and do it the first go around. I just need to save up a couple months and it'll be on. Maybe I'll just charge it - he, he!

Sorry to hear that MsA - I see you're running the Stg 4. Let us know how it works out, and I'll be hoping to hear all is well buddy.

I ran stage 2 for years and now stage 4 for one. Daily driver including Chicago winters with snow tires. Only issue to date is below 15 degrees F stage 4 SS box would not work and the car will not start without a hair dryer handy. Stillen has replaced it twice. Must wait for next winter to see if they fixed it.
