Well let us all know when u go to 9psi. Is your motor still stock? That's what I like to know... how long things last for... but really I am always envious of TTs horsepower levels.

But what it comes down to is I expected at least 100 RWHP from a kit claiming so much at stage 2... oh well. From your experience you don't think at stage 4 I can gain 100 RWHP without some messed up correction factor? (i.e. from 245 RWHP stock to about 345+ RWHP @ Stage 4).

Oh, and Don't worry about offending me I am a big time car guy and have had many fast cars so I don't brag about my numbers or get offended if you have had difference results in your experience. I learn from everything and stay "enlightened"

So the highest HP you got on yours was in the 340s but you don't trust that number? Your twins right now feels so much better than stage 4 stillen with only 6psi of boost? Even initial torque at the low end? Wow!!
The reason yhat i dont trust those number,s is how the car feels now. When i had my stillen stage 4 me and a buddy with a tn single ran from a dead stop and i pulled 2 cars very quickly but that vanished in a heartbeat. And yes the stillen intially felt faster then my twins but only for a couple of second,s and then........that,s all she wrote and it was over.

What the stillen has is great tourqe right off the line and maintains that tourqe all the way to upper midrange. The downside it dosent produce much horsepower cause of the m62 blower...it,s just to small for our engine,s.

Yeah, I am seeing that now. I initially went Stillen for Carb approval, simplicity and reliability (seems like what everyone else does...)... and it's a daily driver... But I get a little envious that there's so much more with the Twins as I see at my local shop. Like I said, even if my dyno @ 353 is correct, I am the lowest output compared to the JWT and Turbonetics crowd.

How much do you think you can safely get out of your Stock engine?

I have seen well over 500whp on a stock motor DD. Now that is unique and risky. IMO on pump gas you should try to stay around 400-425whp on a stock block.

Question for both of you:

Do you think it possible or believable that a Vortech System can make over 450 RWHP?

This guy sent me his dyno and it made 446 on one pass and 491 on another pass... I believe at like 11psi or something like that... While I know Turbos can do that... I just didn't think the Superchargers could have that kind of output... plus I wander on the belt life even the tooth'd Vortech ones. Its a stock motor, with all your bolt on's, plenums, NOS intercooler kit (no NOS in motor)... don't believe he opened up the motor and did cams or anything like that.

I was thinking of buying his car, but just couldn't believe the numbers so I passed on it.

On another note: Daily Driver Turbo Stock Block'd G you guys think 400 to 425 RWHP on pump can still be reliable? I drive about 12 - 15K miles a year.

SuperchargedG,

Can you post your dyno at 6psi? I would love to look at how your boost starts and peaks... I am thinking of doing Twins on my Sedan... I am so curious as how it compares all around... even at low boost levels like yours right now at 6psi.

Thanks!

Yes a Vortech can make well over 400whp. 491 with the standard blower? I doubt it. It all depends on the dyno. I can make 900whp on a dyno with my Greddy TT and stock block if the dyno is set up right. Dyno numbers are like opinions, everyone has one and they all differ. So many factors can change a dyno. There is a reason Church's dyno in Cali has a rep all over the country for reading way high. I watched the same SRT-4 make over 60whp more on his dyno than another one within a few days and the exact same tune/gas/etc...

It is true the Stillen hits a wall at ~360whp, even with cams, etc. That is why I went TT after going all the way to stage 4 The Stillen is an awesome kit for what it is but if you want big numbers it's not the right choice.

I can speak to ~400-425whp on a daily driver. I have done it for a year now with great results. I do want to build my motor now but that is not because of problems, I just want more power. As long as you have a good tune, put good gas in your car and watch out you can make make a lot of power with the VQ with stock internals. It is always a good idea to plan on a build if anything goes wrong but that is true for boost/nos/etc.

Funny!

You called it brother! When you mentioned the name "Church's" it rang a bell. I looked back at the dyno and that's where the guy got it dyno'd!!! I was like... hahah, you nail it on the head!

I am glad to hear that if a tune is good our motors can easily do 400RWHP without issues of reliability. In the past year with your TTs, how many miles have you driven on it?

My car is my DD. I would guess around 10-12k miles in the last year. Maybe more.

As long as you don't overtighten them and keep them adjusted correctly, no problems. I have had friends that overtighten and snap their belts in less than 3K miles. At least with the Roots type supercharger with Bypass you can drive home completely safely. If just feels NA with no loss of power from NA (in my opinion) status.

I have had my current belt on for about 5K miles and have had to adjust it once since new b/c it started to squeal. Maybe b/c I like to err on the safe side I keep my belt rather loose in comparison to say like my a/c or alt. belt. And I tighten when I here it slips slow methodical steps each morning until the slip goes away. I make a perfect 8psi with a very gradual linear climb of boost on dyno so I don't think I am slipping.

Slippage usually occurs if any in the morning when its cold. Just turn it over, and if it squeals, let it go for about 5-10 seconds... then shut the car down. Touch all belts. The one that is warm is the slipping one. The rest should still be "cold" to touch from being parked overnight. Tighten lightly. Sometimes don't naturally assume its the supercharger belt, it could be other ones, so the cold test works great! (I think one of my buddy just naturally assumes its the little belt and keeps tightening the SC belt and that's how he snapped one prematurely).

I have no current problems with this belt right now...it looks a little worn but not tattered or shredding on its sides. I would guess it should be able to go another 5K miles without any problems... but I can keep u posted if you PM or post again. I would love to have the 6 rib, but as posted earlier, its probably not worth it if I have already gotten 5Kmiles and it still looks decent. I will consider 6 rib when I use up all my belts and if I still am staying supercharged... (I bought 5 belts when I picked up supercharger).

But at the rate I post with SuperchargedG and TTrank, turbos may happen sooner than I anticipated (but I think I will just wait for built motor when this one goes and then turbo).

SuperchargedG

Could you send me a scan of your Greddy's Dyno at 6psi? I am so curious as to how it performs... you got me thinking about them all the time now.

I have only had turbo cars before this one and this is my first supercharged vehicle. I love the low end, but miss the top end as you have described. But I think the VQ motor makes horses with RPM in a linear fashion so I enjoy driving this vehicle more than my last 550HP Z32TT. It really peaked at 5600-6000 RPM and died off to redline, it made no more gains ... you knew when to shift without looking at tach...

Thanks man!

I love my SC. My car is my DD, it gives me fun usuable power from light to light. And it sounds awesome... I love that I can always turn heads of people walking on the sidewalk lol (and sometimes even scare them! LOL)
