It still has that tiny little blower which is the problem with that kit.Stillen was working with the m90 eaton but it was too big under the hood but was supposed to be around 450rwhp.They dropped that project long ago.......shame as i did like the kit a lot...esp the sound.

Hey Guys,

We'll I finally bit the bullet and am having Forged Performance install then Stg 2 kit along with some other parts. I just called and they said the Stock Dyno result was 229whp. That sounds horrible to me, what do y'all think. They said that THEIR dyno machine generally reads between 10-12% lower than most others, whatever that means.

I KNOW the Stg 2 kit isn't going to push the numbers all that high - so I'm hoping to ignore the numbers and see if I can FEEL the difference and hopefully it's worth it? We'll see....

I'll post pictures soon!

Thanks Guys!

Sounds about right for a stock G35. Is it 5AT?

Make sure you put a intake on it. It sounds like a banshee going down the road.

Hey Guys,

No, it's a 6MT.

I've got the STILLEN Intake on her and the z-tube along with the STILLEN cat-back exhaust.

I was hoping for much a much better number than 229 with those three items installed. I guess in the end the feel of the car is what matters and I already knew that the number outcome won't get near the high numbers you get with twin turbos etc...Hopefully she'll have a nice fire under her @ss when I get her on Friday...Wish me luck guys. = )

Introduction
Hey all, I guess I'll introduce myself here as a Stillen Stage 2 owner. I bought my '03 5AT Coupe with the Stage 2 already installed about 5 months ago and have lurked here a bit, but now I have some questions.

I realize these kits won't produce numbers I've become accustomed to with prior turbo rides (Talon TSi AWD, Stealth TT, and a GMC Typhoon), but I love this car and want get what I can out of it w/o dumping the Stillen setup. I don't have a lot of free time to for the handyman side of things, but I've got some issues I'd like to put in front of other Stillen SC owners and see what comes of them.

1) I've got some really annoying squeal issues. My initial thoughts are the belt tension and/or pulleys. I've read lots of recommendations and have been working on isolating the squeal sound, spending a couple hours with a mechanics stethoscope, to no avail thus far. The question I've got though is, if I need to replace pulleys, is there anything special I need to know other than not to order underdrive pulleys? Also, what belts (SC and drive/accessory) do you recommend?

2) I'd like to put a boost and AFR gauge in. Where's best to tap for the boost gauge? Anything special I should know with regards to the Stillen kit and these gauges?

3) How hard would the Stage 4 upgrade be over my existing Stage 2?

Lastly, anyone have any other advice about the SC kit that hasn't maybe already been covered in this thread?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

-Patrick

Your almost identical to my car. 05 5at stage 2 borla exhaust and lowered. For the squealing, does it do it on the throttle or at idle? Also check and see how many ribs are on the blower belt. They upgraded to a 6 rib belt i believe for a slipping issue. For a/f ratio gauge I would go with a wide band setup. So you can tune better with Uprev or some other tuner from what I am reading the SS black box from stillen could be better so I am moving away from it. I believe my boost gauge is teed off from a vacuum line on the plenum by the 7th injector. I bought my car with this setup and tryn to learn much as possible about the car. I always played with turbo cars this is my 1st supercharged car. It has been a great learning experience. I also found that the frontier guys are making good ground with the stillen setup on there trucks. So i have been lurking on there forums too. My goal is 400 rwhp. I believe larger injectors, custom pulley, larger fuel pump. larger intercooler, headers, and high flow cats get rid of the 7th injector and the black box, tune with Uprev and some dyno time I might have something.

Some good stuff. Thanks for the reply, and definitely keep this thread updated with your progress and results.

One question: I thought that you didn't get the 7th injector until you got to Stage 4, so maybe you're actually Stage 4 now? Maybe I've read that wrong.

I don't have the 7th injector for sure. I am definitely on the 4 rib SC belt. I asked Stillen about it and the sales guy said I had to do two separate upgrades (of course at near full price for each). One to get to Stage 3 or 4 w/the higher psi 4 rib pulley. And then another to the 6 rib pulley/belt combo. Not necessarily in that order I guess. But why they couldn't just put the 6 rib pulley/belt combo into the Stage 3/4 upgrades sounds maniacal to me, but from what I hear, common for Stillen.

As far as my squeal goes. It's ranged from a squeaking, completely independent of RPM, to a horrid, RPM based squealing. Tightening the belts seems to cure the RPM based squealing, which makes sense. Today it's just the squeaking. The tempo is pretty consistent in the squeak. I've traced all the pulleys with the stethoscope and just can't find it it's origin. Since it's not RPM based, it worries me....

I don't know what to tell you about the squeal. My neighbor had a high pitch squeal coming from his Nissan frontier. We couldn't determine where it was coming from so we just threw parts at it. 1st guess was right with replacing the alternator.

Also does anybody have a stage 3 pulley they want to get rid of?

I would bet its the idler pulley on the adjuster next to the alternator. The way stillen routes that belt puts a lot of stress on that idler pulley.

Hey vg30dett1990,

Wondering if you could take a pic and post it so I can see which vac line you've tapped into.

On a side note, I believe I've isolated my squeal/squeaking to my alternator. I'm going to take it into the shop and have them take a stab at it and see if they agree. If so, guess it's time.....
