Instead of using Q tips, can I just spray it down with electronic cleaner?

oh great.... :/ Just cleaned it and it still only fills 12 gallons and at the same time only registered at a little over half a tank on the gas gauge. Should have just left it the way it was.

Did it today after living with it for about 4 years. Works and I feel like an idiot for not taking the 40 minutes to do it some time during the last 1200 days.

I can't tell if mine is fixed... I did this cleaning and now instead of 3/4 full at fillup I get the whole tank, but I am only averaging 14-15 gallons when my gas light goes on for the first time. the neck, filler tube, etc. has been replaced by the dealer in the past.

how many gallons should i expect to fill up after the the light appears for the first time?

w/ my 2005 Z the light turned on at 32 miles left(no fuel pump problems)... with my G i think i marked it at ~36 miles after the light turned on. so approx 2 gallons left(reserve tank) and it'll turn on.

my G has fuel pump problems :/ it seems to be caught on 2 "tracks" it will either be accurate from empty to just under half, or it will be accurate from full to half, and then sit at half until it gets low enough for the light to be on. but it wont drop to "E" with the light on until the next time i start my car lol so needless to say, i never fill it above halfway just to avoid it getting on that second "track" :/

Edit: Fixed...

i have those exact same issues. I just pull the gas handle like half way and it doesn't allow it to do automatically stop pumping gas like is would as if it the tank is full.

I'm having an issue with my gas tank as well:

I have to keep filling it up.

Is there a way to just fill it up once and it will stay filled... for like... forever?

***haha I had to

Ok, back on topic.

I finally got to it today!

I wiped down the little circuit boards.... The QTip came out clean and I also got a new gas cap. I just drove the car and it may be too early to tell, but its at the accurate fuel level!

*tears of joy*

Mine was REALLY bad, recently its been showing empty after driving only 80miles! So I am ecstatic. I hope it stays this way!

Thank you to the thread and OP!
