narrow the problem down?
Ok, i have read this post and im confused to what action to take. I have no problem when filling my car up with th gas nozzle shutting off. When im done my gauge reads 3/4 full. I drive around and it will raise up about a 1/16. I drive about 180 miles and the light comes on (dont wanna push my luck). Then the same routine again. The gauge will fluctuate about a 1/16 when i shutoff snd go again. Not really consistent. Any suggestions on what to do first?

Try wiping the boards w qtip. Thats what mine was doing, I had no issues with the gas nozzle... my gauge would never read accurate. It was much lower AND it would fluctuate.

Thanks, exactly the same as mine. Just finished the qtip and that was a lot easier than i thought. Took the g to the gas station and it reads full. Thx to all contributors

Mine started doing this but then has suddenly worked again. Guess I'll do this DIY if it persists.

So i just read all 13 pages of this thread during my class. It seems that some ppl are having inaccurate gauge readings, and others are only able to fill up to 3/4 of a tank. Does this DIY solve both issues?

Whenever my gauge reads empty i can only put in 12 gallons, and my gauge reads 3/4 full. Anybody else with this issue fix it with this DIY?

^ you gotta do both sides...

If its really full and reading is off, do only the passenger side.

looooooooooooooooooooool, holy **** this worked.. I was very skeptical about it but was like what the hell would I lose if I were to do it. To my surprise, this worked and now my tank needle sits above the F Bold line, which I have not seen in a very long time.

The tricky part was the passenger side but wasn't THAT bad. Literally, took me about an hour to do this and put it all back together, and I had no idea what the hell I was doing. Thanks to this thread and the people that contributed to it!

Sorry for the double post but also, try to clean the dirt and all before you open up the float arm assembly so none of the contaminants get into your fuel tank. You'll see, that shiz is VERY dirty

I did this DIY about three years ago or so and it worked great... The problem came back and now I gotta do it again. It appears that this is gonna be a continuous issue.. Maybe its the poor quality of the fuel because I dont think any dirt is gonna get past those o-rings. Good thing its just cleaning and not replacing expensive parts though. Anyway thats my update.

I tried this again. I think I was too gentle the first time, hence the problem came back. This time, I swabbed the crap out of it with my qtip and its working fine. So happy. =)
