What did you do to the G today?

Replaced my valve cover gaskets and spark plugs since there was a little bit of oil in the spark plug tube of #5.
I noticed (what seemed to me) a good amount of blow by residue in the plenum.
131K miles on it, and I doubt it's ever been cleaned before so this might be normal. I didn't notice any residue in the inside of the TB so I don't think there's a problem with the PCV on the driver's side leading to the intake. I also haven't noticed a large amount of oil consumption between changes. I cleaned everything really well and re-installed.
I'm going to open it up again in a couple thousand miles to see if there's anything new. I might install a catch can at that point to see if that clears things up. The passenger side came with a new PCV valve, so that could also be the culprit.

Parked the G for the winter, surprisingly the Sierra 2500HD fired right up even though I only started it once this year so far. My winter plans are to tear the transmission back off and replace that rear main seal and the contaminated clutch, I just don't feel like doing any car repairs right now so it'll have to wait.

But since you're in there, may as well do both.

I did notice my lead foot gave me an average of 6 mpg for my trip, which is probably optimistic with some stop-go traffic on either side of the fun bits.

Yeah. According to the computer, mom's avg mpg is 22, all-city...but she drives like she is moving expensive crystal with untethered bowling ***** and literally puts like 3k on the car a year. I'm the idiot killing the environs trying to move ms.fatbooty (what I call my car) to get around her.

I'm not sure wth I did.
My car was parked 3 days on a slight incline. I rolled it to even ground to check the oil, about 1 min before starting it. I started it and OMG it knocked and ran rough, smoke came from the bay, I shut if off to hopefully to let oil circulate more. I checked the dipstick again and the entire stick had oil along it. I waited another minute or so and turned it over a few times and it wudnt start, it was blown for about another minute; sound like it lost all compression. It finally starting normally and seems well now.
I guess the oil didn't have enough time to circulate after rolling it back and I dry started the hell out of it?

Did a brake fluid replacement today. I originally had bought a HF vacuum bleeder that connects to an air compressor but for best results, apparently you need a powerful compressor with 5+ CFM and my 8-gallon compressor doesn't have anywhere near that so I returned it and got a MityVac 8000 instead. Everything seemed to go well although I was expecting to remove/replace a bit more fluid. I actually bought a quart bottle plus a half-quart bottle but only ended up using ~500ml. The MityVac comes with a small bottle, around 200ml (??), that the old fluid is drawn into and we never filled it at each wheel. The first wheel, the furthest from the master cylinder, we got close but there was clean, clear fluid already coming out at that point. The remaining wheels only got ~100ml out of each. The important thing is that it was drawing clean fluid.
Started it up to check pedal pressure but I had forgotten to re-engage the ABS module, which triggered the ABS light on the dash. Fixed that and took it for a drive after "feeling" out the brake pedal pressure in the driveway. Feels good. I think a placebo effect was going on as I wanted to say it felt better and maybe it did slightly. Definitely wasn't a "Whoa, this feels so much better" situation !
