Scroll up to herrschaft's response to my similar question (post 1294), I'm a noob also and it's a good place to start. Small things for your car to start would be a MD plenum spacer and a z-tube.

bought the coupe a few months back and want to put a few g's into it. Is a hks exhaust a decent idea for the first thing to do to it?

ud get more power doing hfc/test pipes and md plenum spacer first and it'll be cheaper.

whats up guys im new to the forum. and i just purchased my 04 g35 coupe AT about 2 months ago. havent really been planning on doing any mods. but i went to a meet last night with a whole bunch of g's and it got me going. from what i read here it looks like to start off get a z tube and a plenum 5/16" spacer would be good. anything else that you guys would recommend. price is not an issue, but would like to start small and work my way up.

just bought my 04 g35 5at about 3 months ago... looking at making it look better than what it is now... since its auto im not looking at dumping a lot of money into the engine...but as for looks i am... im looking at doing my first mod. with tint on all windows...preferably limo tint...and tinting the tail lights...im looking at over lays by batmobile or bluebatmobile...i cant remember the website....but does anyone have any suggestions which is better? tint on the tailights or over lays on then...even tho they r kinda the same... looking at doing this middle of next month... thanks

MD spacer + ztube is a good start. Then i would go High flow cats or testpipes or MD ART pipes. Then get the exhaust. and last get a tune.

or just go FI and make real power.

thanks BonBG35. i now know what my plans are. also going to add some carbon fiber. man how i love carbon fiber

so im not seeing much on here about the Kinetix Racing G35 V+ Plenum option instead of the spacer. Anyone have any insight on this?

I just had my windows/taillights tinted. Actual tint on the taillights is better than the vinyl overlays, since its thicker and higher quality. If you have a tint shop near you that will do it, have them use tint on the tails. If not, buy bluebats overlays.

I have a completely stock 04 G35 coupe auto (14.489@99.27 with 2.2 60 ft.). As for the first mod, I want the UTEC Turbo XS tuner and data logger. Its price has been going down as of late. Problem is, I'm also contemplating on trading the G35 coupe for a G37 X AWD coupe due to winter (Toronto, Canada). Don't know if it works for G37s too.

As with my previous car, tuner and data logger comes first, then Force Induction comes next. This way I know the base parameters. Plus tuning is really fun to do. Full throttling on highways in the dead of night while logging all the parameters and studying and tuning with my laptop once I get home. Boy I miss tuning.. even for naturally aspirated.

The UTEC used to be $1,000, now they're $750. Going down, down, down..

I also like a new front bumper. Mine has scratches when I bought the car (that's why it was cheaper with only 40K miles on it).

My previous car club had an automatic, FWD, 3.8 ltr. V-6 twin turbo, intercooled, self tuned, NO NOS! It runs 8.56@ 157 mph with 1.56 60 ft. Now with single turbo, auto transmission and it's still running 8.59 @ 157 mph with NO Nitrous.

Why are you selling it, you need that. Price is tempting, but I got laid off last month and still waiting for a better job offer (Aviation, better location). I'm most likely ready by end of june or july. I'll search the classified at that time. thanks..

Does it work for a G37 AWD coupe? Because I'm thinking of trading my G35 coupe for that due to winter driving..

^I don't need it, I'm currently using Uprev. If I have to switch to a stand-alone unit I'll probably go with the Haltech. I'm not sure which all platforms it will work on.
