If my parents were willing to drop 50 g's on a car for me, I'd probably ignore the lancer and the g... m3s are nice, but for that price range why not get a Cadillac CTS-V? All 15 year olds should have a 400 hp engine. Or an Escalade, so you can be "safer" when you plow into that family of 4 in their Kia and turn em into pancakes. 5 series are nice too, although arent as fast or blingy.

I guess in the end, its up to you.

Beating on young people who are considering buying a car, and one's who have a nice car for the first one REALLY desirve your smart-*** comments, and your bad attitude, esp considering I think all of your posts have come from here, all of them have had some smart *** comment to them and none of them have been helpful

go vent your anger somewhere else, we dont want it here. You can respect all the members, young and old, or just get out

I'm not going to beat on either of you. What I really think should happen, is that the insurance companies deny any claim unless the driver is listed on the insurance policy. In every state, wrecked cars affect the drivers of the same said type of vehicle. All to often I've heard "Well, the car is going under my Dad's name for insurance purposes". In essence this could be viewed as a lie and could hurt other drivers. I own motorcycles and feel the same way about them, as the insurance has skyrocketed over the last few years, and my driving record is clean, ergo lots of people claiming them.

You get these types of comments from people because it does come off bad. By you stating that your are young, and are getting the car for free, you come off like you are trying to rub someone's nose in it. And grown men who work hard for their automobiles, generally, don't want to hear it.

Why even mention this anyways? What you should have done is just state that are you are having a hard time trying to decide between these certain vehicles and would like help and/or opinions on the subject. Hell, I'm happy you get to get a choice ride for your first. Lord knows, I wouldn't buy my kid one, no matter if my last name was Gates. He/she would be getting a high mileage beater, and they'd be paying for 1/2 of it to learn something. You get a lot of heated comments because a lot of owners are older, and would probably tell you themselves, that they weren't mature enough to have that car at that age. Hell I'm glad I didn't have one at 16, all I would have done was get in trouble with it. But I would have gotten a lot of more *** than what I did. Enjoy the car, whatever you decide on.

God I wish I had this choice when I was 16...Went to a pretty affluent high school here in SoCal but no one really had a nice car per se. Sure there was the occasional Bimmer but those were few compared to the Corollas and Civics puttering around. These were kids who lived in Newport or Huntington too...That was 10 years ago and it still rings true today when I get in the campus lot picking up my sister...sure there's a Hummer and an S4 there, but there are still those same compacts puttering around.

I'd get the EVO hands down...fits your age...get a luxo car when you get a job and have to impress clients and such...

When I was 16 (in 1993) I wanted a 1984 Ferrari Testarossa!

I grow weary of this, and don't feel like waking up tomorrow to see this has taken another downward spiral resplendent with PMs to me crying about everyone's attitude. I think the question has been answered to the best of everyone's ability, and thus there is no reason for this to continue.

If anyone would like to PM me with their rationale re: why this should remain open, I am more than willing to listen. Posts that continue this topic, lampoon it, or say "WHY'D YOU CLOSE THAT??" will be summarily deleted. As may be the accounts of those who post them... honestly, I have very little tolerance for attention-whoring mutiny by those who feel they are standing firmly on the moral high ground.

I'm dictatorial. Deal with it.

Closed. Good luck with your choice, Xristos.

G
