Driving Styles to maximize Fuel Economy

Driving Styles to maximize Fuel Economy
For you M6 owners...
What rev's do you find best to optimize your fuel economy for highway driving?
When you are driving normally, at what rev do you normally shift at? You know, when you're not street racing or trying to show off the nice sounding exhaust?

i don't have a bmw m6, but I do have a 6-speed tranny, if that's what you meant
Around town, I'll shift at 2500 or 3000 rpm. Sometimes I'll skip from 2-4 & 4-6 so I don't have to shift 6 times.
for highway driving, the slower the better if you are concerned w/ fuel economy. 80mph is 3000 rpm.

For highway driving, just leave it in 6th... the revs depend on the speed, so there isn't really a point asking what revs would give you the best mileage. I normally drive at about 5-10mph above speed limit on highways.
I normally shift up between 2-3k rpm. I also leave the car in highest gear possible when crusing at certain speeds.
My MPG according to my Navi is about 20mpg On long, highway trips, it's about 24-25mpg.

I can't speak for you yanks though.
I used to have that on my signature until I had some US friends that couldn't get it so I changed up.

you'll notice our engine start to "boggle" about 1k ish while trying to accerate.. for an motor that pushes 300hp its as easy as eatting cake to hold a speed on a flat road..
by uphill i do not mean mount something..
but as long as your accelerating your bring your fuel economy down.. idealy.. if you can.. try to drive from point A to point B withOUT using your brakes or pass the half way point on your throttle..
basically go by feeling.. for the new stick drivers the G is a pretty hard car to feel anything.. if you screw up somewhere the nice gear box and insulation will fix it. Just drive more and it'll get easyer... or go get a POS 1990something with no insulation and a pissed off tranny and try to drive that.. if you can make your ride quality next to decent then you can consider yourself a pretty good stick driver

Accelerate slowly and don't floor it when coming out of a stop. On the highways, 60-65 mph gives you max mpg. I get 27mpg (sometimes 28!)according to my NAV when driving on freeways at that speed...but again the NAV is just digital and based off of formulas, so I subtract 2-4 for real mpg.
