^ All materials have their own natural frequency, aluminum has one and so does Carbon Fiber. You can build two plenums One from Aluminum and one from Carbon Fiber. Carbon Fiber intake will perform better.

Once you go WOT the air is moving pretty quickly, and it only moves faster at higher RPMs. So generally heat soak will not be an issue here.

The Spacer is an interesting piece. Its not only altering the plenums capacity but changing how the wave inside the plenum propagates. It can also explain why different size spacers ie Bigger ones do not perform as well.

Insulation/isolation from the effects conduction head has on the upper manifold.

This doesn't stop convection heat (air) when the engine bay eventually gets hot enough, but it still lowers temps, and with moving air (actually driving) it's very relevant.
I see what you're saying, but it DOES still make a signifigant difference. Just like a true Cold Air Intake does. That's like saying a CAI is pointless because the Intake manifold is hot. Get what I am saying here?

Also things aren't black and white when we say "cold", cold is relative. It will still be hot air to you as a person feeling it, but to the engine, by comparison, it's much colder.
Perhaps sticking to LOWER temp would be less confusing here.

[QUOTE=dofu;6515770The best solution is to put a gasket to stop the heat from transferring between the motor itself and the lower plenum. This way you can actually rest your hand comfortably on the upper plenum (and even the lower plenum too if you can reach it), meaning overall temps are actually decreased enough to finally make a difference. Why half-@ss a job with a cool upper plenum while your lower plenum still gets hot as hell?

.
This is a good idea.

Is it just me or is there a larger fender gap in the front on revised Z?

^ The revised Z is the same drop as G/Z, the Front is the same as unrevised but the rear is only dropped half an inch.

Yeah maybe its just me but it looks like the Z/G and revised setups have more fender gap in the front.

quick Ipod question/clarification for 2005 G35x

Hey everyone, I'm sure this topic was beat to death but I just need some clarification.
Heres the situation, I want to get an adapter for my IPOD to work in my 2005 g35x with SAT.

Now I know that you can get the USASPEC PA 15 INFI that installs in the truck.
HOWEVER, I want to install the unit behind the radio because it would be much easier for me to do.

Can the USASpec PA 15 INFI be installed behind the radio or does it HAVE to be installed in the truck?
Will the PA 15 NIS work with my car being that that unit does install behind the radio?

If the answer to those questions is NO, is there any other comparable units that would work with the install behind the radio?

Thanks in advance.

^ They will charge you to buy new ones if you want the key. They have the key their still.

You can also buy the key at your local autostore.

Thanks, do you know how much the dealer would charge for the new lugs?

It depends on the dealer and the car. The last time I looked at the sticker on the door of a brand new GT-R, the dealer listed the price for OEM locking lugs at $399. I know, I should have taken a picture and posted it up here.

Just order them online and bring them with you. You don't really have to go with OEM either, unless that is your preference.

Look through our vendors. I remember buying mine from a vendor here at a pretty good price. I think it was about $400.

Locking lugs are not dealer specific/OEM specific, though some dealers DO provide them as an option, they're still not OEM, they're mainly made by "Mcgard", that's the most well known, and the one most OEM's use.

That said, there's way too many versions/keys on the market, it would be surprising if they carried the same one still, more likely it will be special order. This is also the same product you would get from your local parts store.

It's normally Cheaper/easier to just have them all removed with a special key (universal removal tool) and install new ones. Not to discourage you from trying to get a key, just a useful bit of knowledge before you spend any money.

ok so, Nissan DOES offer OEM wheel locks,
if you loose your key, you have these options, you can take your car to the nearest Infiniti dealership, pull up on the service drive, they can find out which lock you need by putting the master set till one fits, and order you a replacement, 20-30$ they can use the master set to remove your current locks, and you can get an OEM replacment lock set w/key put on, they average 40-50$
if you still have your McGaurd card from when the car was purchased, you can give that information to the dealer and they can order you a replacement with that card information without the master set needed
