This is the box I was referring to by the way, this is the ugliest part of my engine bay.

Anyone know what this is?

That doesn't look OEM to me. I don't remember that there.
Looks like it's just zip-tied in.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm? Maybe that's tying it into the hood sensor?

IDK, I did a wire-tuck, and removed the hood switch... I don't remember anything being there besides just the switch.

Is it necessary if I don't want DRLs? Or will I lose other lights too

So, I didn't know having a standard actually puts more horsepower in your engine? Or did they make the standards more powerful than the automatic?

06 at = 280 hp 270 tq
06 mt = 298 hp 260 tq?

Yes an no. A manual has less drivetrain loss, so the WHP will be higher on the manual. Those numbers are bhp though, so there must be a difference between engines, i.e. compression ratios.

Unfortunately it's not that simple, you will at a minimum lose High beams if you simply disconnect this. I don't know much about converting, as I haven't looked at the wiring for this circuit.

The 05/06 MT is the "REV-UP" Engine, it was only put in the Manuals, and only in 05/06.
The most 'arguable' difference in the engine is different Camshafts.

IMO, all 3.5 DE engines have a nasty thirst for oil, and seem to enjoy smoking rings prematurely. Not The best engine in that regard.

This true is too. Even my DE consumes more oil than I like, though it is over 150k mi, still not much of an excuse though.
