Rear ended!!! :(

So i was minding my own business driving with my friend. I stopped at a stop sign and was waiting for traffic to clear so I can make a left onto a main street when this drunk kid rams into me!!! I was stopped for at least a good 5 seconds. It was around 11pm. Night but nevertheless I don't know how he didnt see me I mean he didn't even brake or anything.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
I hope that kid has good insurance and spends time in jail. I have no tolerance for people that cause this kind of BS because they made a choice to get behind the wheel drunk. He's lucky he didn't kill someone, that would have completely destroyed his life.

Sorry to hear about your accident, GL with the repairs.

You sure he was drunk? How old was he?

But sucks about your car and probably your sore neck and maybe ribs...guessing by the jolt that must have caused. How would you rate the overall safety of the G in this case?

Gevo1, I am glad you aren't seriously injured and hope you don't suffer any long term ill effects from that jolt. Is your friend is Ok too?
Hopefully the driver that hit you was alright too so he can sober up and deal with his carelessness. What was he driving?

Ouch. Sorry to see this, are you okay though? That seems like a pretty strong impact.

Might want to check for any type of ripples across the top area/roof rails spanning from the C-Pillar back up to the A-Pillar.

When i had a similar accident in a past life, two independent shops said the car would take on more than 14k in damages (i.e. totaled), but the claims adjuster came back with no more than 8k in damages (not totaled).

Not knowing any better i took the advice of the adjuster and had the car repaired. It was only soon after that i realized all the "miscellaneous" damage moving its way up to the front of the vehicle.

Good luck and i hope you won't get any neck/back-pains, i still suffer from that to this day.

Yeah, try to get a good thorough quote.

When I wrecked my last car, the original quote was $2,500 or so. As they started repairs, it ended up being over $7,000 and similar to soundmike, it would have been totaled if they got that number to begin with.

Sorry for all the gloom and doom responses.

Sorry about that man, same thing happened to me in Sept 2008 only 5 days after returning from Iraq. I'm waiting at a yield sign to turn right then Wham!! Ford F250 rear ends me, wasn't a hard hit though. A quick look in my rearview mirror and I see him taking his hands down from his ear (cellphone). I was pissed, cost his ins about $1200. Yours look a lot worse so glad you weren't injured.

Thanks for all of the responses guys to answer all of the questions, everyone is okay except some pain here and there but I guess thats normal lol. I would rate the G as a very safe car because honestly I didn't feel much of a jolt as mentioned even though he hit me with a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. I'm pretty dam sure he was drunk because of 2 reasons, I smelled tequila, a lot of it from all 4 of them and there was a big house party around that block from where everyone was leaving from due to cops and stuff I guess. The kid seemed was like 17 or 18 yrs old and I was really pissed but when he said sorry like a million times I felt bad for him so I didn't call the cops. I just took info and told him to go home safely. About my car... well I hope its totaled to tell the truth because I am pretty sure no shop will ever fix it properly with the amount the insurance will pay them With that said I don't think they will total my car because it's worth about k30 from what I have heard. The thing is, since my car is dropped on H&R's which means 2in drop and he had a high Ram, all the force was taken above the actual bumper. My airbags didn't even deploy. Once again thanks for all the nice comments

How old are you now? Hope you know INS claims may not cover your damages without a police report. Man!! well hope it works out for you.
