Here's my sedan. I felt like it was a nice touch to bring some more black to pull in the look of the rims.

I just did my grille exactly how you said to do it and everything is going well so far! This thread is a really good tool to use in order to make the process flow smooth. THANKS A LOT!

plastic tabs on top. also need a long flat head. there are 2 clips, one in each corner, stick it through the grill adn turn it. it should pop right off

Is it ok if you use different grit sandpaper? (220)?

Just did mine:

Materials:
DIY blacked-out grille w/ pics-aycs1.jpg

Grill as it is. Yeah it has some chips and scratches here and there. SPent 4 hours the day before removing the plasti-dip i had on.

After sanding: (used 220 grit. Spent 2 hours sanding it. Smooth as a baby's bottom

Primer (4 layers)

Paint (bout 6-7 layers)

End product:

Overall was happy with it. I did a pretty decent job id say. No obvious paint dripping, uneven layers e.t.c.

Had plasti-dip before, but wasn't really digging the flat matte plastic look. With this its nice and glossy, and still looks chromish.

Did I get the rite materials?

I went with a semi glossy black because I thought the glossy black would be a little much by the looks of the cap anyways.

Also heres a pic of my car now has clear corners. Anyone have any pics of my same color sedan with glossy black grille?

I just did mine over the weekend and it looks alright - I'll have to most likely redo it to make it look cleaner, but I'm liking it.

I flat blacked my grille last night. Sanded/primed/sprayed. Bought the wrong clearcoat so went without, I like the stealthier look for now anyways. I'll prob redo it in a few months with a clear or whenever it needs it or try and find a nice replacement.

Heres a Pic!
