My dealership didn't even measure the dipstick reading. I measured ~7-8mm after ~1500miles, which I think is right on the edge. The guy said "Infiniti says that as long as it's between the marks between oil changes, it's okay." Obviously, not what the TSB says. So I need to have a chat w/the svc mgr I guess. These guys are not good. Unfortuately, the next closest dealer is 2 hours away.

Anybody want to buy an '06 6MT? Too bad it ain't worth much nowadays.

That is when Infiniti corp or is it still Nissan North America (NNA) for Inifinit's also? Any-who when the customer cannot get resolution on an issue with the dealer, is when you need to contact customer service at corp and open a claim. Corp works with the customer and dealer in these cases. Caution: try again working wioth the service mgr, if staill no reslutiion, then let him know nicely that you have no other avenue than to contact customer service at Corp. By doing this, you have not burned your bridge with the service mgr/deeler.

As I said before and will keep saying, the tsb link here is the same one that the service department gets. Print it out and take it with you when you go in. Any discouragement the dealer will give you is based on them thinking the customer is ignorant of it.

Plop it on the service managers desk and ask them to point out where it says any of the bull**** they are trying to hand you. When they can't they will start playing by the rules in the tsb.

That is pretty much a given, that anyone reading this thread should go with the TSB in hand. Although when you still get an uncooperative srv mgr or misinterpretation of the TSB by the deeler. Then follow the previous mentioned advice. Granted, with the introduction of the TSB, it has made it much easy to get a replacement. Back when we still had to fight tooth and nail for a replacement, good treatment of the srv mgr paid off in the long run and it still holds true today. Heard of many horror stories from treating them bad.

Cheers

Boy don't I know that. TSB saved their butts from me going BBB and/or Attorney on them (had been living with it for 2 yrs prior while collecting proof and BS statements in writing on my service records). Was in the middle of one last thing that would cut Infiniti's throats, then TSB was released...saved by the bell

Very true on still needing SM on your side even with the TSB today and what finally got my replacement.

+1 Both of us have been down that path, back in the day.

Thumbs up Update on my revup situation

Here's an update on my oil consumption:

After the first 2 inspections, dealer making unofficial/unscientific measurements ("oil level just below full"...) I put a little pressure on (politely) and spoke directly to the service manager and mentioned I had downloaded TSB from internet. Dealer attitude did a 360 after that. Service manager very polite and no more BS. Went back for 3rd analysis and manager immediately said "yes this is unacceptable i will contact infiniti"...engine in within 3 days and my car is now in the process of getting the new engine installed at Fresno Infiniti. Very good relationship with these people after I stopped playing dumb and they stopped BS'ing.

Question for all: Any attempts to have Infiniti buy back your car? I put a call into Infiniti customer service yesterday and they said either way the car would still need to be repaired, but they would "consider" a buyback and get back to me in a few days. I seriously doubt they will do it but just wondered if anyone else has tried and was successful or unsuccessful. I would love to swap out for a new G37 at this point! (even with 2 grand + in mods).

Happing G driving to everyone...

James

Just curious -- Does anyone know what is the motivation for the dealer to avoid working with the details of the TSB and Infiniti's own program to rectify these engine problems? The dealer isn't paying for any of this anyway so why are they trying to avoid making the required repairs? I just don't see their motivation for the screwy behavior that a lot of us have noticed.

Knowledge is power, love it. They hate it, too bad. I have no love for their general ignorance and games.

Read many 350Z owners have successfully with Nissan after 3rd failed attempt of fixing this issue.
Get the BBB on your side if it comes down to that and/or Lemon Law Attorney. Document everything in the meantime in writing, service orders, etc...

They get paid less with warranty fixes than with non-warranty customer fixes I believe.

Read also long time ago, there's a warranty/non-warranty claim ratio per month. Too many warranty claims and they run the chance of being audited from manufacture about that. Big pain for dealer. Might explain the ignorance/games from many...

I had an OC test done and after 1000mi the dealer told me my oil level had gone down 7mm which was acceptable. But I checked and measured the oil level the next morning and it was down 18mm. So I went to a different dealer to have another OC test started but the service manager told me that he was told by Infiniti corporate that in order to qualify for a new engine I would have to have it verified by the dealer who initially stated the testing. He had my oil change but said that was all he could do an that basically I am stuck with the other dealership. Anyone know how true this is?

Not true for me back ~year ago.
I switched dealers in the middle of testing with no hassles from Corp or second dealer accepting test take-over.
That work order even stated test-take over.
