Looks like I have a similar problem, but could it be the window switch instead?

My window works super smooth up and down as well as door open retract, but only 1 out of every 5-7 days. The other days the switch does nothing and no open/close retract. Before I open the motor up, anything I should try?

That's a shame, ridiculous that the part is so expensive.

Releasedtruth, try rebuilding the motor instead. I got two replacement brushes for $2.59.

Only thing I would add to the instructions is the suggestion to make alignment marks on the armature shaft and motor housing so you can slide it back in exactly as it came out. With one motor I had no trouble, but the other I fiddled with it forever trying to get it back in, many beers later I rotated it just right and it dropped right in.
