Diy: Sticky For Window Motor Repairs/door Panel Removal
So I took the top half of the motor out for cleaning and I'm having trouble pushing it back in. Anyone else encounter this? The copper rod is completely inside the magnetic housing and the rubber gasket is completely flat.
Bought a new motor and tested it out using the window, which was probably a mistake because I had a hard time lining the bolts up with the cover. The window only moved up and down about an inch or two when I was testing it. After putting the metal cover back on, the window only goes halfway up with the door closed or open. I forgot to do the motor reset switch before putting the cover back on, but the procedure states to fully close the window before beginning the reset procedure, which my window doesn't do, so that can't be the problem. Any idea what could be wrong?
the window could jus be misaligned so u gotta tear it apart again. i had a similar issue. everything bolted up but the window couldnt go up cus it was too tight somewhere. so i had to trial and error until the alignment was right and the window could go all the way up normallly
We tried to do the window motor swap for the second time at 50K mi on my 03 coupe. Obtained another A-1 Cardoza rebuilt motor from O'riley parts using life time part warranty (free with core exchange). After many hours of effort, two different rebuilt motors, re-greasing the mechanical window regular parts, adjusting the window regulator, and resetting, the drivers window would not roll up. It rolled down fine. We took it to the dealer who advised that the rebuilt motor was defective. Cost was $560 for the new motor and labor, split about 50/50. It seems that G35 owners can expect to replace the window lift motor about every 25K mi (normal driving) which is an overly expensive and serious design flaw for owners but a guaranteed fat pay check for Infinity
Hopefully stays
Thanks for the great pics. I just did this to my passenger window. I was originally going to replace with a refurb autozone with the lifetime warranty, but after reading seems like they just do the same clean I just did. Seems they don't replace the brushes. So I just figured I would clean myself. Once I had the motor open I tinkered with the brushes some and they seemed to bounce back and seem all set. Used 1000 grit and wire to clean the copper rotor thing. After I assesed it brushes seemed all set and I think they were just stuck from all the debris and thats why there was no contact. If it f's up again I may try the brush replace. Its definitely worth trying this yourself and opening up the motor to see whats up. What a stupid design. My 98 Ford Escort never had 1 issue with the windows after 150K+ miles.
1 question I had is that when i try to open the windows usung the key fob both windows just come down a few inches at a clip. Anyone see this? Not a big deal, but figured I would ask. Thanks again.
