Diy: Sticky For Window Motor Repairs/door Panel Removal
Yea, just pressed it down with my fingers with a twisting motion. Kind of like screwing it in forcefully.
I just preplaced my window motor in the passenger door and nothing is working... I tried the switch on the drivers side and still nothing. I also tried takin the motor off the regulator and just seeing if the thing would spin by without being attached to anything and it still doesn't work. Anyone have any idea why this isn't working? There are no power relays for the windows right? It seems like the new motor is just not getting any power.
I just cleaned the motor, and finally got it all back together, but.. when I try to roll the window up, the window keeps rolling back down. I'm thinking there's some kind of resistance and so it thinks there's something in the way (like a kid's arm or something), and it rolls down. Anyone have this issue? Any ideas on how to fix this?
THANK GOD for your Diy post it helped alot. Even though cleaning all the carbon build up didnt work i was still able to wind up the window Manuely. I dont to have worry about having my window half way down. I think ill buy the master window switch before i buy the window motor i assume there alot cheaper. Thanks again for your post. It would have took me awhile to figure it out but with your help i did it fast
Thanks for the write up. My passenger window on my 04 coupe is now fixed! However,my passenger inside door handle is not working properly. It simply does not work or do anything. It does open from the outside and the door locks work. Anyone have any ideas why?
Bumping this cause i need some quick help. I just opened up the motor cleaned it out replaced the brushes etc. but now that im trying to put the copper coil part back into the black plastic housing with the rotating motor part, it doesnt go in all the way? Like something is stuck or is in the way. Anyone deal with this before?
It still makes contact with the motor cause when i spin the copper coil part the spindle turns as well it just doesnt sit all the way in as it supposed to. its about 3/4 to an inch from closing all the way when i put the copper magnet cover on

I had that same problem and ended up ruining my passenger side motor trying to force it in. It's hard to line it up right since the magnets pull it to the side but with some lube and forcing it to stay centered it should go in.
Where did you lube it up? i already tried forcing it and it feels like it really isnt going in :/ Weird how its my passenger side motor as well. Thanks for the quick reply! Im starting to panic about this damn motor -__-
There should be a little bit of silicon lube on there from the factory but I just added a bit of lithium grease. Put it on the end of the steel rod that the copper coil is wrapped around, the end that goes down into the metal casing. There should be about 3/4" exposed rod beyond the the electromagnet components. The hardest part is keeping it centered as you drop it in. Don'r force it though. Once it feels like it's all the way in, check to make sure you've cleared the motor brushes. I marked them in the attached pic. They're spring loaded so you can push them apart to get the core all the way down if it catches on them. I forced my core past them and chipped both brushes which ruined the motor.
Gotcha yea right now im just trying to put the rod in without even using the housing that the brushes are in. I have a replacement so if i break one i have an extra luckily. But i guess ill just keep trying. I thought there was just some gunk in the bottom so i bought that CRC contact cleaner for electronics or whatever since its quick evaporating but thats it still hasnt gone in

Answer is : put the rod into place of the plastic part with the brushes before putting it into the motor housing. Hold it all in place while putting it back in. May have to use the soldering iron to melt some of the stuff that hardened in the opening while you were working on the plastic part. Once in place you may have to spin and push the rod a little to get it futher into place. I've done 3 of these so far and I'm going any cars in my area. Pm me if you have any questions. Also when you done and the metal panel is back on you may want to test te window and slam the door a few times to make sure the welds/solders dont get loose. Make sure the door is unlocked when u slam
I got it in a littttle further but still not enough for the metal casing to shut over the gasket on the plastic housing.
I figured out that the metal part has a loose part at the end of it where the rod goes and sits in, i had to adjust that for it to close.
Now its about half a centimeter from shutting all the way and ive tried forcing it without the housing with the brushes in. just the black plastic housing, the copper rod, and the metal casing/housing. SO CLOSE. Literally half a centimeter till it shuts all the way
