Brakes brakes brakes. Dustin has an Alliance setup iirc. Gord has a Wilwood setup. Rotora is a good choice as well, used kits are easy to come by and are almost always well priced. If you feel like putting the big boy pants on, get an Endless kit. If money turns out to be an issue, you can find factory brembos on the cheap. Even the new factory Akebono kits can be had for a reasonable price. Just don't buy anything with race pads. They will score warp and ruin your rotors day when driving on the streets.

I would go with Up-Rev any day over Cobb. At the same time Haltech over either, but not to the same degree. Many of my customers have had amazing results with the Up-Rev, and not even one went with the Cobb, all do to the same reason....lack of support.

If you do end up going with the Haltech, get the shop to weld an extra O2 bung in each down pipe for wideband sensor. This is if you end up with a dual channel set up like the one I have.

I think they have wideband going on anyway so that sounds like a winner. I don't know enough about uprev but I think Haltec sounds like the way to go. Costs a bit more but I'd rather buy that then have to buy an engine. Also loads of room to expand- which is what this project is all about.

If anyone sees a used one out there let me know, will ya?

Also, thanks for the break advice. I'll do some research and see where we end up!

COBB doest exactly the same thing as uprev it reflashes the ECU the only difference is uprev is live tuning, COBB you make changes then upload them so it is more tedious to tune. Cam@ Lightspeed is a Pro COBB tuner and he says COBB is great they are easy to get ahold of and very helpful so i am not sure who says they do not support their products. However no doubt Haltech is much better than either COBB or uprev.

ViPEC is alot more money than a Haltech so i am not sure why you would choose it over a Haltech, unless you get a ViPEC sponsorship to even the cost . It has features that Haltech does not but in the last 3 years since I got mine Haltech is starting to catch up.

For some reason I keep thinking that I read this somewhere on my350z.com. It went something like; "Cobb has stopped development of the access port for the 350z/G35" This was a while ago, and now I can not find it.

Just did a bit of searching and it seems that it still around and alive..maybe read wrong.

Yes they quit selling the access port for NA cars but they still work fine and COBB is still alive and well.

Eh guys...

Well good news. I floated my WTB Haltech out there and found one. I'm just going through the process right now trying to figure out the price.

"I have one with every thing never been installed. It comes with the Haltech system with daul windband controller, Boost Control Solenoid and daul windband gauge. Make me a offer"

Any thoughts? I saw AidanPs for sale last year for 1500 so I figured somewhere around there was a fair place to start.

Also, I noticed what Sasha was saying there about the dual wideband sensors. The new kit I'm looking at has the dual wideband... So I guess it's something I should be doing? I've done a bit of reading up on it and I'm seeing the dual wideband allow for a more accurate A/F ratio calculation... and more aggressive / fine tuning. Is it something that can be done later, once the haltech arrives?

Finally, another plug for Cam at Lightspeed. It was his assurances about the wastegate issue that we got things rolling again. The report from the shop is that things are "fitting tight but moving forward." It was a great piece of news that came at exactly the moment I needed it. Now if only this Haltech sorts out it'll be great!

Thumbs up

Okay... time for more pics.

The job is moving along now that the waste gate issue has been resolved. The tech doing most of the install has sent me a new set of photos. I'll include his explanation of what's in them... though I don't think they'll post in order they're pretty easy to match up.

Here are the latest pics of the build, there has been a fair share of road blocks here and there but everything is coming together at the end of the day.
Picture 23 shows an obvious clearance issue with the left side downpipe and the steering shaft, which i was able to correct by shaving some metal off the downpipe.
pic 24 is the right turbo installed, and the oil and coolant plumbing complete
pic 25 shows the intercooler piping from the turbo to intercooler completed
pic 27 shows that a majority of the left side is complete and is how it will look upon completion. you may notice the piping in front of the engine is resting on the radiator fan shroud, another fitment issue i am running into.
pic 28 shows the right turbo installed from the overhead view, along with heat shield, wastegate actuator hose and turbo air intake piping
and pic 30 shows how nice the gauges look

The guy at the shop was saying that you couldn't adjust the wastegates down, but that they could be adjusted up. Cam talked to Jim Wolf about it last week and JW told him that they could be dialed down to the required settings... I'm assuming to those we've already discussed- opening at around 6 and fully open at 10.

As for the clearance issues, I winced a bit but I knew it was going to be very tight and things like that were inevitable.

Haven't heard back from the guy about the Haltech yet- I'm afraid I lowballed him and he's not taking me seriously. Could just be he's got better things to do than be on the forums... for shame!
