I think he might be looking for someone to supply him with oil change receipts to prove to the dealership he has religiously been doing oil change at the proper interval.

I have the same problem with my 2006 G35 6MT Coup. I purchased the car new in Sept of 2006, 1500 miles later, I heard some knocking at about 3000 RPMS. So I called the dealership up and took in to the shop that day. Now keep in mind the oil level light never came on, and right after the mechanic and I took the car out , it light came on. After about 2 hours the dealership called me, and told me I had only 1 qt of oil. They wanted to know where the oil went, there were no leaks and the oil plug had no been moved. BIG MYSTERY, so the dealership said, they had never see the problem before. well after doing to homework on the Net, I found that the engine is know for burning oil. Has anyone opened a case with Infiniti's Consumer Affairs? I would like to get some case number to place in front of the dealership.

Well, the 2nd - 1000 mile interval was completed, yesterday. Another 1-1/2 quarts low on engine oil. Hopefully, I am not confronted with too much grief when I ask for a new engine after the engine oil consumption tests are completed.

Hopefully not Andy, though being you're definitely within Infiniti/Nissan's retarded 1qt/1000mi threshold, there should be no question about replacement.

I trust that is the case, John. Time will tell.

I know for a fact my g35 is burning excessive oil, in 3kmi regular oil change intervals, last two oil changes netted about 2qt out each time. Eg, only 2qts left in motor when i went to change it. I am doing the consumption test and the dealer showed me the dipstick at 1kmi and it was exactly on the full line, except that the oil was bright yellow as if it were just poured in.

I wouldnt jump to conclusions that this is what happened, but I dont know... maybe I should visit a different dealership?

To followup, I suspected that either some rediculously thick oil or something like that was used, or the dealership topped it off then showed me the dipstick.

^ Sounds like you're getting your chain yanked. I'd go to a more honest Dealer that doesn't pull that crap.
I check mine when cold before I go to my Dealer, that way I'll know if they're trying to pull a fast one. So far they been coinciding with my pre observations with oil level.

Wow, that sucks that some of these dealers are giving you guys so much grief. Maybe they're just not informed. My dealer acknowledged that my oil was low, and started the oil consumption test ASAP. I was kind of worried that they would blame it on the fumoto oil valve I installed, but they never mentioned it. I brought the car back after 1000miles, they checked it, and put me on the list for a longblock right away.

For those of you that are having problems, maybe it'll help to try a different dealer if its not too out of the way? Are you guys going to the dealerships you originally bought the car at?

I just get my 2006 G35 Coupe 6MT a week ago and the dealer did not inform me anything about the oil consumption problem on this car. It looks like a serious problem from what I've read in the forums and I'm kind of worry now.

should I take the car back to the dealer immediately for oil consumption test or I should wait until the next oil change??
about the rattle sound that come from the engine, is it like really loud that you can hear from inside of the car while you are driving or it just noise that you can hear when the car is at idle??

^^^ Not ALL rev-up VQ's have this. Know of a member who has same year as you and I, 6mt and doesn't loose a drop of oil since day one. (wish that were my G)

If I were you, I'd check my oil at 500mi. If okay then check at 1000mi. Then you'll know if you have this plague or not and whether to visit the Dealer about it.

The noise, from what i've read, sounds like a lawn mower, whether at idle or on the road. If you check your oil and not let it get that low, you'll never hear that sound.
That sound is when there's only about 2 or less out of 5 qts left in engine.
