LOL...thats just what I read here.
A few peeps said that what their Dealer was doing. Some were butt hurt b/c their Dealer did that during testing...lol
Guess it depends on Dealer or if they have a gut feeling that you might be trying to pull a fast one

Doesn't matter to me if they do, I know what my consumption is from all the self monitoring I've done.
Not about to drain oil to get a new VQ...not that kind of person...baaad Karma.
And they can mark the fill cap all they want too. I sure as hell aint gonna ADD oil during testing..lol

I burned 2.5 quarts in 3400 miles. If I was on this forum and read these oil consumption issues before I bought my G, I probably wouldn't had bought it. It's really disappointing that this attractive looking car has this major oil consumption issue.

It doesn't seem that the early G35s (03-04) had any of these issues.

Another quart low in 844 miles. That's for a total of 4 quarts low in the last 2744 miles. It's all documented by the dealer for whatever that is worth, at the moment.

Please do. Do you have many performance mods?

No, mods could potentially void my warranty during the oil consumption testing.

Well, spoke to the service advisor at the new dealership, where I had the 3rd oil consumption test performed . . . He said that my car's consumption rate was within the Infiniti limits.

Went back to my original dealership and retrieved all of my service records. They said that my current rate of oil consumption is not normal . . . And as such, Infiniti/Nissan should step up to the plate.

Well, needless to say, I will be filing a claim with the BBB, very soon.

Oh, my previous dealership decided to drop the Infiniti franchise. Sooooo, I got left out in the dark, so to speak.

how do they prevent people form tampering with the dipstick or drain plug so that tehy qualify for the new VQ engine? I've heard of people sucking out the oil from the dipstick to qualify.

TO be honest i have not gotten under the car since the testing started. But everytime I have gone to the dealership they have never put the car on a lift, so i assume they have not done anything with the drain plug. I mean what could you really do with the dip stick? Add oil?

OMG!! That's crappy news Andy!
The new dealership sounds like they don't know their you know what from a hole in the ground. What 'new' dealer is this, if you don't mind me asking. PM me if you rather.

I would think ALL service/testing records would be in Infiniti's data base no matter which dealer you go to.
They should have all your past records/consumption test results at their finger tips
I went to a Nissan dealer for something (never been to a Nissan dealer before) and they knew who I was in their database b/c I dealt with an Infiniti dealer.

Chain being yanked = BBB. Good Luck with the next step.

Yes, John, all dealerships all share the same data base. They punched up my history in seconds. Prior to the 3rd reading, the dealer's service advisor knew the previous tests data. They knew that my car had already consumed 3 quarts of oil in 1,895 miles after the first 2 tests. Add in their 3rd test results of another 1 quart low in 844 and you have 4 quarts low after 2739 miles. Go and figure . . . Doesn't take a brain surgeon to see that there is a serious problem at hand. Nonetheless, I was told that this rate of consumption was nothing to worry about.

Too bad the parent company of my previous Infiniti dealership had opted to drop the Infiniti franchise. They officially close their doors tomorrow, Friday. After the second test, they told me that I was going to be inline for a new engine, down the road.
