Everyone: Check Your Oil!
OOOOOKAY. So its been a while since I have been back here and posted something.
I got a call from the dealer and they have approved the new Long Block which is awesome. Hopefully, there will not be any OC issues from now on.
Which brings me to the next point. Though I got approved, I had to go north (with the car) to NY/CT for a consulting job for the next few weeks which really sucks.
Also, I have gotten a few more mods. Now I kind of babied the car after I found out that I had an OC issue until I started the OC tests (where I drove "spirited") After that, I put on a upper plenum, air intake, and a borla exhaust. Would it be wise to take them off when I take the car to get the long block in a few weeks? Or leave them on? (Something tells me they wouldn't be too pleased to see those on there). I will leave the exhaust on but all "engine" components, i assume, need to go. Also, after I get the work done, do you think I should keep it stock until I figure out if there is an OC issue for the first few thousand miles? Or go back to the pullies, Upper/ lower plenum, CAI, Headers, and all that Jazz?
In the mean time, I will call the dealership and try to let them know when I will be back in town. I hope they don't "change their mind." Haha!

^Congrats on the approval.
Some dealers are cool, some aren't with mods. Read many posts about the good/bad/ugly about both.
Could always asked their feelings about what you currently have with your VQ. If they don't seem cool, remove them.
Think you'll be okay with your exhaust, but ask. Mine was fine with mine as well as my Z-tube.
Far as waiting on your mods with your V2, I am but that's me. Still only cat-back exhaust and Z-tube installed. I'm having OC with my new one, so going to wait and see what happens with mine for awhile. It's improving, but currently my V2 is a fail by TSB chart standards

i went to get a oil change today. the car was extremely low on oil. two days ago i was driving normal out of first gear and i hear a rattling noise from the front. i pulled over to see what it was. i thought i was dragging something or a suspension part was loose. but i couldnt find anything. im using mobile 1 synthetic oil. i went in to get oil changed and they said i was extremely low. i drove the car for 4500 miles between oil changes. time to call infiniti?

i have questions that have probably been answered on this thread but i really dont feel like reading 65+ pages.
i just got my engine replaced with engine number 10102-AC7M9.
anyone with the same engine/part number still having OC issues?
during break in period did you guys listen to the dealership and not rev up higher than 3K RPM or did you guys break it in hard?
i have MREV2 installed and specifically told the service advisor to re install it if need to be removed, how can i tell without taking the upper plenum off?
any input would help. thanks in advance!

#2- No wasn't there to see how or how long they ran it. They put 14mi on it for QC purposes. They said they drove it normal and not over 4K rpm like owners manual says.
#3- Yeah that's a hard one cuz you can't see it like you could if it were a spacer. Don't think they would have stock lower collectors kicking around and not swap your existing MREV2. Wow...they didn't have an issue about a MREV2 on your old VQ that failed and now on new replacement? You've got a mod friendly dealer there...

#2 yea i figure i listen to the dealership but i read this REALLY long article about why you should break your engine in hard the first 20miles something about so the piston rings seal nice due to pressure or something. i dont remember it was loooong time ago lol
#3 man let me tell you it took me 8 months 3 oil consumption test and 2 different dealerships. 1st dealership said it was fine that i had mods i/e/tp/mrev2/plenum spacer/ engine damper and failed horribly after 1st oil consumption test (car was rattling). after they saw the problem they thought they just made a mistake measuring so another OC test and failed yet again, then they "voided my warranty" and refused to work on my car... 2nd dealership was a breeze i didnt even finish my OC test after 2K miles they already knew the outcome of the next 1k miles was not going to be any different. finished that around May/June. Then infiniti consumer affairs DECLINED my engine! b/c of what the 1st dealership did and how they lied to them. it took almost two months for them to approve the new engine all thanks to my great service advisor. but i am hoping the new longblock will be fine.
btw thanks for the info guys!

^ Think I remember you now from awhile ago posting about your denied approval, could be wrong. Too many stories and too many OC threads I read everywhere on forums.
Good to hear you finally got approved. Mine took ~ 5mo. after TSB release, two dealers and been living with OC since Jan 2006. Long story with me.
I feel dumb with you now mentioning spacer as a mod too. MREV2 + spacer go hand in hand with the revups. So yeah do what bythabay said and look for spacer. If that's there, then safe bet your MREV2 is there too.
Think the break-in method you're referring to is 'motomans'. No way any dealer would do that method being it's 180 out from factory method. There's some truth in that method imo, but it's too extreme for the rings and longevity down the road would be my concern as well. Just my 02 on that.
I'd change your oil a few times during break-in. When I reach 3750, that'll be my four oil change, then will go normal intervals. Should've seen my oil at 75mi. Lots of metal particles and milky at very start of drain (settled assembly lubes my guess). There's many other reasons why I'm changing so often before 3750mi mark, but too long to explain.
Keep us posted on how your V2 works out.
