If your G fits the TSB for the OCP, then I don't know how they can charge this. Call Infiniti Customer Relations.

Oil sucks...

After a little research and a call to Pat Goss (automotive guru and host of Goss’s Garage on 106.7 JFK) I found out that a percentage of our cars have problems with their piston rings. He told me that Nissan refuses to admit the problem and that I should be looking for a new engine.

At least I have only 15,000 miles and the warranty should apply. Let’s hope that Infiniti owns up to this problem and does not give me any s$#* for the MREV. There may be some of you out there with the same problem who (like me) can’t get a good reading because of that damn dipstick. Make sure you get this problem on record before your warranty period runs out.
I would add Lucas oil stabilizer and use Royal purple, I drive hard and use this in my cars and all is fine. I had an old Chevy van that I built the engine for in 1990 and beat the @#$* out of it for 15 years and used STP which is not a bad additive and this motor went on to go in three more cars! STP is the poor mans Lucas..lol When I took the motor apart to check the bearings, I could not spin or hold onto any tool with oil on it, that was how slippery this combination is! This was the first time years ago that I learned NOT to trust the oil pressure gauge, check the bearings and all of them were fine, change the sender and oh boy, 80 lbs in the cold!

I would say to be that fly that never goes away! If you back down they will think it is not that important to you, STAND FAST! show them you are not going away till you get what you are entitled to, you bought a product and a warranty and you want satisfaction, except nothing less! you did not buy a piece of crap Hundai, you bought a high class Infiniti!

So after getting my new replacement i think i've got the OC again... The service rep assured me that Nissan fixed the valve seal issue in the new engines, but with all of the reports on here of multiple replacements, do we have any clue if this has ever been fully resolved?

My oil level was very close to full the week after getting the new engine, so they put enough in initially. About a month (1000 miles) later, the oil level was was at E, so I put a full quart in thinking maybe the initial break in would use up SOME oil. Now 2500 miles into the new engine I'm back down to E!

2 quarts used up in 2500 miles? That's ridiculous again! I haven't driven it hard and haven't even had time to neglect oil changes. Taking it back in this week to start another OC test. Infiniti of Charlotte has (so far) been great about everything, but I'm starting to get fed up with the shoddy reliability of these engines...

If I end up needing a 2nd replacement is there anything I can do to get a bumped up warranty or some sort of compensation for this?

What brand and weight oil are you using?
ALSO!! Never use synthetic or and additives during break in, and vary the speed of the engine, do not drive hard, be careful with quick take offs.
If you have problems with Infiniti, can't you contact the Zone office and get on point with having a high quality car live up to it's reputation! Be forceful but polite and do not let them patronize you!

Hello every one. Keep all oil records and get an oil consumption test done. In case they decide to admit the problem.

TSB for the revup VQ admits there's an issue. There's even a TSB for the VQ37VHR now.

Here's the consumption chart for revup VQ's only TSB: ITB08-002c

BUT there's talk of a letter from Corp to dealers changing the consumption rate per miles in qualifying from what you see above.
https://g35driver.com/forums/5388640-post1295.html

ALSO...recently Infiniti has revised the TSB. Nissan has too for the 350Z's. The chart above is not from the recent revised TSB. NHTSA indicates a revision was made back 7-30-10 on TSB ITB08-002c. Have yet to get my hands on that revised TSB short of paying $$ for it, which if possible rather not.

My Question is, how long will the time limit extend, I have an 04, with 74K on it, I doubt that the factory will have any care about my needs

I also would build my own engine if it were to have a problem, I was 18 and building the best engines around, and that was 1974!

Still not quite sure what you mean by that, but powertrain warranty is 6yrs/70K mi. unless you bought an extended warranty like I did for 7yr/100K mi.

Bought my 06 G coupe about a year and half ago. It currently has 50k on it and I saw how every 1k miles it ate almost 1.5qts of oil. Took it in to south bay infiniti and they said they would do the OC test on it and to come back in after 1k miles. After a month I took it back in they told me I needed to replace my engine, they told me good thing I was under warranty and that I bought extended warranty. I was all happy to know I was getting it fix... They guy comes back out and tells me that their records doesn't show that the previous owner did any maintenance with them, so the warranty wouldn't cover since this could of happen from bad maintenance.

So I'm wondering if this happen to any else?

I am kinda disappointed since the car runs good and everything but the only thing is that I have to buy 3 extra qts of oil before every oil change...

oh yeah I also got in contact with infiniti help line and gave them my vin # and they told me they were going to search all the records of maintenance for this car, they called a week after saying that the only maintenance done to the car was the ones I did to it, including the one oil change I did at ez-lube...

HELP!!!
