Thanks for the reply. Which dampener are you referring to? On the muffler?

 

There's two somewhat rubber dampers on the HR Y-pipe itself. When I heard my rattle, one of them was bent into the Y-pipe itself, touching it and causing it to rattle. It's not supposed to be touching so I simply bent it back into place to where it wasn't touching the y-pipe.

 

Oh, is it those 2 hockey puck looking things? I gotta jack my car up and check it out. No wonder I can feel the vibration under my feet.

 

Yes, those two hockey puck looking things. It took me a couple weeks to isolate the rattle. Check the nuts too since you'd be under there to see if your exhaust leak theory might be true also, I've never heard one either lol.

is it hard to in stall the y pipe and the mid pipe? can it be done with only 1 jack with out help of extra hand?

 

It can be done but it would be easier if you had jack stands on both sides. The hardest part is taking off your oem exhaust because of all the rust, so a breaker bar and pb blaster/ wd40 or something to help loosen the bolts would help significantly

 

this may be a dumb question. do the all 07-08 350z has the same hr y pipe regardless the model of the 350z?

 

^^ I think so, because they all have the HR engine. Before that was not HR and after that were 370s..

question.. i realize that those hockey puck things are for NVH... so what happens if i remove them? car gets louder? will there be rattling?
