Alright so I spent around 6 hours today installing my Pioneer 3200BT. Seemed pretty straight forward.. took around 2-3 hours to take everything out and wire it up, but then that's when I started running into issues..

I spent the next 2 hours trying to get the steering controls to work and failed to do so. I don't know what I'm missing. I followed that guide and I made sure I connected the right wires and checked numerous times over and over again then I finally soldered everything together, but it still wouldn't work..

Everything else seemed to be fine, but then as I started driving.. the radio wasn't working that great. Like everytime I hit a bump or something I would lose signal and i'd hear some static. The subwoofer also was really weak.

Last question. What should I set my settings to once I'm done fixing all those issues?

I bought the attena adapter and Metra kit from Sonicelectronix
Metra Axxess ASWC
PAC ROEMNIS2
Bought the scosche DD trim, but don't think I'll need it.

Thanks

Steering wheel controls is probably a missed reference ground, the rest of the problems I'd guess loose connections.

Not sure if anything really needs to be changed from default settings on the headunit. I get sick of the beeps and turn them off immediately.

I'll check into it today and dang hmm.. sounds like it's going to be a pain.

But alright thanks for the reply!

If it doesn't work out then I'll make sure to take a picture of everything and post.

Okay, like I said before - the reference ground - yellow wire here needs to be grounded for the steering wheel controls to work:

I can't tell from the pictures what other problems you may have.

Alright I grounded the yellow wire, but it still doesn't seem to be working.

But whenever I turn on the car the black box lights up with a red light for like a second or two then it turns off.

Ground the yellow wire along with the black to the car itself like to a screw behind the radio area.

Can I just cut the factory bezel instead of paying for a new one or is there something else in the way also? Does anyone have pics if it has been done before? I guess I will have to by the JDM ac controller but don't won't to buy the dd kit if I don't have to.

It's a lot of dremeling and you end with a larger hole than necessary, it's the only option for those with the rosewood dash if they don't want to swap for aluminum:

Yes, the but the
Metra Axxess ASWC Metra Axxess ASWC
is within a few dollars of being the same price and doesn't require you to mess with soldering in resistors and such.

Sorry about not following up on this one.

Remove the harnesses completely, line the wires up nicely and take pictures of them so I can tell how they're wired, and maybe I can see what is wrong.

Wrathernaut, thanks for your great contribution in this section of the forum. With your thread I've been able to find and order everything I needed to do my install. I ordered the PAC ROEM-NIS2, Metra 40-NI10, JDM DD, and Sony XNV-770BT. Once I get my car back I will start the install and do a post in here. Thanks again!

The Sony looks pretty good, TomTom's not quite as good as garmin, but certainly better than the navigation in most other units. Good luck with the install, if you run into any problems, I'll be here.

Metra Axxess ASWV vs PAC SWI-JACK
Hi all,

This sticky has been very helpful. My current shopping list:

1) JVC KW-NT3HDT head unit
2) PAC ROEMNIS2 interface
3) Metra 40-NI10 adapter
4) JDM trim kit with Dual AC controls

I have a few questions though...

a) Should I be getting the Metra Axxess ASWC or the PAC SWI-JACK steering wheel control interface?
b) Is there anything else I need to complete the install?
c) Are there any other recommended optional accessories like a wire to connect an iPod or something similar that I might need?

Thanks!
