was playing around with the new lenses you sent me, but I can't get color all the way accross the cutoff, were you able to do this? mine tapers off towards the middle, with NO color towards the outer 1/3-1/4 of the cutoff on both sides. I think this might just be the nature of the beast, but maybe you have it figured out.
BTW, I just compared a clear lense modded projector against a stock fresnel lensed headlight and the color, sharpness, and output are worlds better, I forgot how bad the stock projectors were

did you modify the spacer at all. If you don't they really can't get that much color out. Especially the lenses are actually made for FX. most think FX is same as G35, it's actually different at the shield, the two shields in each projectors have different distances. G35 has two farther shield where FX is closer I think..may have it backwards.

But the optics are slight different. The same lenses on FX doesnt require modifying the spacer at all.

this is actually the result of the G with the lenses and modified shield height.

So what are you doing using these lenses on both the fx's and the g35's.
For the fx, are you just bending the front shield down with the spacer in place? Are you still bending the shield into a semicircular shape or leaving it stock?
For the G35, you are modifying the spacer to allow for more upward movement of the shield, but how else are you modifying the shield?
I got pretty good results using a hybrid fx front half, g35 rear half, since then I don't have to trim the arms off, but I'll try it in a nonmodified fx next. As for shield differences. I didn't notice any, and I swapped them back and forth between the two projectors without a noticeable difference in cutoff. Let me know, these lenses have me somewhat stumped. I can't get any pics because the GF took the camera for the weekend

say you didn't want to play with the shileds. Could you just change the lens and still get a nicer flicker effect and possibly better light output.

spacing the lenses don't work with the G projector.

Depending on the particular lense you use, lense space will produce a slight amount of color and possibly better intensity, but to really get a good cutoff, the shield needs to be modded

Shield modding is relatively easy, especially if you aren't a perfectionist. You can get some decent color in under an hour of messing around with them, just follow IvoryGT's tips on the shield modding.

Are those stock lens? They look great.
What's the outcome with e30 and g35? what need to be done for color and cutoff with e30?

Thanks, I know clear lens do wonder for g35 but just want to know if it possible to do something with stock lens beside the trash can or signal light.

Throw it at someone you don't like? The fresnel lenses are garbage for output, I've tried, but nothing seems to work on those lenses, the ridges are just too large
