I have never heard anything bad about GTM, only great things. I am most likely never going to be purchasing a built engine, but this is something everyone who might purchase one should know. Hopefully things will be resolved.

But there are still some unanswered questions. Why not focus on the questions instead of being upset about the posts. Defend yourself and your company's credibility by answering some of the questions presented. I wouldn't call posting in response stooping down to a level but more less of you standing your ground

+1 I can agree with you on this as well. It seems that the finger will be pointed and the matter will extinguish itself. By the time all is said and done the customer will be out of a few thousand dollars if the two companies can't come to a resolution.

The only reason this site hasn't heard about all the bad motors from this shop and others is , more than likely all the shops on these sites have agreed NOT to bad mouth each other and to keep quite any bad builds . Understandable in most cases , but as Julian has stated MRC and several other shops have gotten bad motors [ both Sam & George have tried to make it look like MRC is the ONLY shop that has gotten bad motors ] .
I suspect we may hear from other shops besides FP with neutral posts about GTM . And it wouldnt surprise me if calls are being made to solicit other neutral posts right now . These shops make alot of money from these sites and will try to preserve that income at just about any cost

So, I'm ready to chime back in...
If MRC is claiming a certain batch of engines failed over X amount of time, did GTM change anything for that time period? Was someone knew hired that may have overlooked one or more parts that they worked on (out of the 14 employed)? Was an employee pissed at GTM and decided to get a little pay back?
And from MRC's side, was anyone else new hired to do anything on the engines, any tuning, etc.?
Have to ask questions like this all the time when people come into the hospital when they claim they've been fine for months, or even years, and now all the sudden they are sick, rash, don't feel good (infinite list). "Well, what have you changed in the past month?" Could be something as simple as switching to a different soap in te shower.
Just exploring a different avenue...

Just a clarification, I never said you don't give a crap. I said it looks like you are. I do not know the specifics of the situation, basically because you have not disclosed any details. I have nothing against you or GTM, but you need to realize this group of people are VERY quick to jump on a bandwagon. You need to back up your claims with proof, and quickly before it gets out of hand. As Hi Tech G said, instead of complaining and calling out me, a single poster, why don't you disclose some of the details and get this situation fixed?

Me being a man of integrity, am standing behind what WE sold our customers 100%. I have eaten 95% of the labor on all 3 motors in question, and will incur more cost by the end of the day. We sold the customer $20K motor build ups, we expect them to last more than 3 months... Were making good despite not feeling we did anything negligent. At least Someone is standing behind GTM products..

As far as the last motor in question, it had lower compression upon start up, never was tuned... Leakdown shows the exhaust valves not fully closing on one side.

1) When we spoke in june/july in regards to the issues we had, you washed your hands of me.i can post up my phone bills of the unreturned calls to your cell phone if you would like. Perhaps that will clarify that you left me out to dry.
2) The cams in the original motor had a casting defect. They came installed in the motor from your facility, so we couldnt have broken them with our amature install..And our amature tuning couldnt break cams.
3)You charged the customer over $1000 to replace the defective cams. Other cam manufacturers I spoke with would have 100% replaced them no questions asked. FYI these cams were sent out for inspection also.
4)fact, varying and improper head TQ of your motors causes the heads to lift, not the HKS 14,000 mile headgaskets as you suggest.
5)fact, I presented you with an inspection report of an oil consuming engine that you left me out to dry with. And you have not one single comeback for the professional break down other than calling me amature.Please explain how amature tuning can cause improper piston to wall clearance, dirty oil galleys, tight main and rod bearings out of spec, and improper ring end gaps cut by hand with a file.
6) You recent motor has 145 compression on one bank and 110 compression on the other, leak down tests indicate the exhaust valves are not closing fully.There is ZERO sign of pistons contacting the valves as you suggested.The motor was properly timed...HOWEVER we found that the cam lash you set on that bank was 2-3 thousandth too tight cold, meaning it gets tighter when hot. You motors have been the worst lash motors we have found. And are VERY noisy...Your tech simply does not know how to or is to lazy to properly set the cam to valve lash properly for a smooth and quiet engine. Anyone with a GTM engine can listen to the VERY loud "ticking" from the valve train.
Now Samuel, if you have no factual basis to contest my original post, then please exclude yourself from this thread. As you said when we talked on 3 way with the customer, "I only want to talk about this motor and none of the past issues". You made it clear, that you were not addressing ANY of the past issues. In fact the only reason you agreed to speak with me is because of WHO the customer is and how public he is..
Please address these FACTS and stop trying to divert peoples attention from the facts and towards an MRC is AMATURE campaign...

Since everyone is so eager to get some answers, I will respond to one of the engines I have information on in the meantime while we wait for the 3rd party inspection for the final motor.
This is going to be in response to the comments made about the engine with the broken oil squirters.
Julian PM'd Sam and let him know they were replacing the oil pan on this car, and upon removal found the broken oil squirters.
Sam picked up the phone and called Julian asking to provide the invoice number for this engine so he can look up build card to determine what pistons were used in this engine and who made them. If we need to call the manufacturer and see why their pistons broke the oil squirters, they will need the build sheet number for the pistons, which we cannot get without the invoice number from Julian.
Julian told Sam he would get back to him with the information. Days passed by with no information from Julian. Sam called Julian again asking for the information, he was busy and said he had not gotten a chance to get this paperwork. Keep in mind we cannot do anything until we get the invoice number to see which engine this was. To this day no information was ever provided from Julian to Sam to resolve this issues. Sam never said or implied that we will not take care of the problem, keep in mind that this issue is 100% caused by the piston manufacturer, but we were the builder of the engine and take full responsibility for it.
We still do not know what has happened with this engine, is it still running or not, and if anything has been done to correct the problem, Julian has left us in the dark. This is a clear example of whenever there is a problem we have to work together to take care of the customer and put them back on the road ASAP.
I have known Sam for over 2 years now, and I have never once seen him deny any type of warranty on any of his products that were in fact his fault, it is unfortunate that in this particular case he will be at a loss because of a piston manufacturer error, but he will stand behind it, as he always does with his products.
Please be patient with us, as we are awaiting the inspection of the final motor to end this debate once and for all. Thank you.
