Con grats resIpsa. That's ultimately my goal also but I am gonna insist on a whole new engine (long block). I am afraid that some damage may have been done to the engine so I want to start over with a whole new engine.

yeah...congrats too.
Sorry to hear only a short block for you, but if you caught this oil issue before your engine made any weird noises, you're probably fine with a short.

The "surfer" chicks at the beach would just fall out of their boyfriends vans to get a ride in it.
This is actually a 67 Queen Edition B, but unfortunately there's no real way to identify the Queen B's. They don't have any special VIN badging or anything.. Kinda sucks. And.. they were scattered, 50 of them were made, and they weren't in one chunk of VINs or anything.. it was maybe VIN 1009 and the next could have been 3340 or something..
Anyway, my GT has the metal Dash, which is nice, 67 was the last year of those. My brother had an Alum. Hood at my parents house, but they recently disposed of it. They threw away a block, the aluminum hood, some wire knock off wheels and a few other "CHOICE" parts that would have found a nice home had they found their way to Ebay.

It was not easy, took a lot of whining to the customer service representative. If you have this same oil consumption problem, stay persistent, document everything, and don’t take no for an answer.

YEAH!!! Take those F'ers to the BANK!!! MUAHAHAHAHa

Either way I would want a long block bro. Just because no noise was made doesn't mean some kind of damage was not done.

I hear ya Hex, but sounds like that's the final deal/agreement that could be made with ResIpsa and his Dealer and to the head mechanics disgust... it is too bad.
But yeah, if that were me, I'd personally keep persisting for a long block and sounds like the head mechanic would be on my side too at that dealer.

But, if no noise or oil light came on, then you could somewhat sleep at night knowing the top end wasn't starved for oil cuz the oil pump still was pumping oil to the valvetrain, which means, most likely, no damage occured there.
The bottom end is an obvious different story.
Just my opinion.

I hear ya mang. I'm just saying that in my case, I am definitely gonna insist on a long block. There is no way I am gonna be happy or satisfied if they only give me a short block. If they tear apart my engine and can prove to me that no damage was done to the valvetrain, then I might reconsider but anything short of that will not be acceptable unless I get a longblock.

I just found this thread. Our 2005 is having the long block replaced. The dealer told us that Infiniti requires the entire engine to be replaced if there is a problem. Has anyone had their engine replaced and had the consumption problem continue?

Here is my thread about my issue.

You should give ResIpsa a holla about what you just said.
They're only giving him a short block.
See his quote below.

So when we read the dipstick for the oil level, should it be between the L and the H? That's what the manual says I believe...

Your oil level is fine between H and L.
When it's at L, your around a quart low.

After about 500 miles. I am 1/2 a quart low. Looks like I am right on schedule.

After about 1000 miles, I'm 1/3 quart low. A 1/4 quart low at 400, so maybe it wasn't completely full.
