I took my car in today around 1:00PM, its now 5:30PM. Just got a call from Infiniti, my service advisor told me Im 2 quarts low after 1444 miles. They are keeping the car to talk to technicians tomorrow and will give me more information tomorrow afternoon.

Wow!! 2 quarts low after less than 1500 miles. Oh yeah, you are getting a new engine.

I'm a qt low at 1500mi. Was at 1qt/1200 before.
Slowly getting better, but have this feeling I'm gonna be stuck with this VQ.
Don't think it'll ever get to 1qt/3750mi which I could live with.

Sounds like both of you are getting a new one. Give them hell for a long block boys.

How can you tell how much qt you've lost? My dip stick had no oil between the L mark after about 3500 miles.

I checked mine last night and at about 600 miles, it is almost a full quart low. It is just above the L.

The dealer didnt even mention my HFC, exhaust, or intake. My MREV2 is sitting on my floor waiting to be installed after this oil issue is resolved. Im hoping for a new engine, that would be awesome, just a PITA to wait for the engine to arrive and get installed. Ill be happy to do the break-in again. If I can take 11,600 miles off of my car, Id be stoked!

Hexx, take your car in at 1000 miles. Dont even make an appointment, just take it in and tell them you need to have your oil level checked and an oil consumption test needs to be done.

06CPV35, I hope youre oil consumption either takes a huge turn for the worse and starts gulping down oil as bad as mine or I hope it gets a hell of a lot better and you dont have any engine damage!

Best of luck to you both and to everyone else. Ill be posting updates whenever I hear from the dealer today

Actually they have already agreed to an oil consumption test. I have the card of the QC guy at Infiniti of Glendale and as soon as I have 1000 miles all I have to do is call him and tell him I am coming in.

Ya, I realized after I posted that that you had already had a test done. Thats good that you have the guys direct number. Are you driving the car hard or are babying it? I drove the **** out of my car the whole 1400 miles between oil changes. I guess that worked well for me. Im still waiting to hear from Infiniti. Ill call them if they dont call me by 4:45

Just got off the phone with Infiniti. The technician ran some tests and figured out that Ill be need either a new short block or long block. They are still unsure if the whole thing needs to be replace(long block) or if just the short block needs to be replaced.

Anyone have any ideas how I can help convince them to replace the long block? I could say I would like the whole thing replaced because I am worried about engine damage that has already been done and that I would like the long block replaced to be 100% sure that the problem does not re-occur. Anyone else got any other ammunition?

I've gotta say. The guys have been great! They've been taking care of me, no bull**** added. More news comes tomorrow afternoon

Does this only happen to the RevUp motors?

Does anyone still have the guide pin and nuts from the 5/16 plenum spacer installation. My car is already half a quote low at about 500 miles after my oil change and I want to put it back to completely stock before I take it in.

Thanks extreme...
Yeah, I hope for the same.
This guy states something interesting what the dealer told him about what is excessive in oil usage and about long block replacement. Though, mine said the 1/1000mi thing and I think to you guys too. Worth reading anywayz.

Here's a poll that was done about your question:

extreme-That's exactly what I would tell them. I am going to say that I am very worried about the engine already being damaged and will not feel comfortable unless I got a long block. If they can somehow tear the engine apart and prove to me that there is no damage to the valvetrain, then I may consider just accepting the shortblock being replaced. Anything short of that will not be acceptable.

Thank you guys, again. Ill talk to them tomorrow and see what they have to say. Hopefully theyre going to replace the long block without me saying something to them, thatd be great. But if not, I hope I can talk them into it!
