What would happen if I drove with this problem for like 3 months.

So my G35 makes this horrible noise when the AC is turned on. I finally figured out that it is the blower motor. Where is the cheapest place to buy a replacement? Should i look for a manufacturer model, or is a generic model "good enough"?

a quick google search turned this up. what do the Gods of G35driver think?

 

^You are sure it's the blower motor right? It does it with the "AC" button turned off and fan on high?

If so, it may just have a leaf or something stuck in the blower. I'd take it off and see before I went ordering any new parts.

 

my cousins lexus is was making a horrible sounding noise when he turned on his AC.

we opened the glovebox and moved some papers and it went away. turned out a paper was getting caught on something, waddya know

 

well, i did take it out, and the blower can definitely "wiggle" on its axle/driveshaft/whatever-you-call-it. I haven't checked to see if it still makes noise with the AC off, good call to check that.

 

^what year is your car? Some of the early 03s have a terribly loud compressor. (like mine, for instance )

So heres my random little question. Ive heard of some problems with some drop in filters that are oil based like the K&N, what would be the best dry filter to avoid the problems that occur with the oil ones.

 

I use Wix Paper Filters.

 

jgitt, it's possible that the complaints you read about were due to user error... upon cleaning it/re-oiling it, some people don't read the directions and either put too much or don't allow enough drying time.

I use Apexi's "power intake" drop-in dry filter. Bought it off Concept Z Performance for 27 bucks, works for me.

 

I think Amsoil makes a dry filter, too.
