I remember the day when I had my new steering wheel... enjoy its newness!... I remember at times I would put my gold glove on to keep leather on leather

Anyone have luck getting the dealer to replace under warranty at SouthBay or Cerritos Infiniti? If so who should I talked to?

Just take it in if it's still under warranty.

I tried hard to be careful with mine, but one slip and it does come off. If you're within warranty you should just get it replaced. You will easily be in a situation later where you will regret it.

had mine replaced under warranty no problem (Austin,TX), new steering wheel and door finishers, no questions asked (under warranty). Sunroof trim cracking, however, I was denied. No idea if the replacements are any better than original or not, or how long they will last. My wheels wasn't that bad, but since my warranty ends soon, I got it done. My door finishers were bad though.

If they used the correct replacements (which they undoubtedly did), you shouldn't have the same problem since they are not a painted surface; nothing there to scratch off.

Yup, just try to scratch one on a 2010 loaner if you ever get one. It'll just leave a light scratch mark and not take any material off.

had a new g37 loaner while they were working on mine, it's definately different material on the door finishers. It was solid colored plastic, and not smooth, had a texture to it. The ones they put on my look identical. That look good now at least, I don't want to try to scratch it to find out!!

Hey guys, I just traded in my 03 G for a black 08 G35X because the miles were getting way up on the 03 and I couldnt see myself ever finding a better all around car than the G. Im 23 and just graduated college so I don't have a lot of money and obviously had to buy used. Used = no warranty (except for a 60 day powertrain from the dealer). I have a little bit of peeling on my wheel, not nearly as much as some people on here but definitely a noticable amount. I am a bit mechanically inclined but I don't know if I trust myself with the task of removing and reinstalling something as incredibly important as the steering wheel, otherwise I would just paint the trim myself.
After working in a sign shop for a few years, I have gotten pretty damn good at applying vinyl to things such as signs, boats, trucks, etc. The steering wheel trim has a lot of curves and I will definitely be swearing my *** off while doing it but I think I am going to try to overlay the trim with a piece of vinyl (matte black or the highest quality CF I can find). Has anybody else tried this? I'll post up pics once im done.

If you have an 08, then you still might have some of the Factory warranty left over (Unless you are past 50,000 miles.

Also FYI there is a factory powertrain warranty up to about 70,000 miles.

See this thread about wrapping that piece around the wheel: http://www.myg37.com/forums/d-i-y-in...ement-diy.html

Or Check out my Ghetto Temporary fix : https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sed...ing-wheel.html

Check out this video on steering wheel trim wrap on a BMW...similar steps I'm sure to ours

yeah im at 80,000 so no warranty for me. Also, im going to try to wrap it without taking the wheel off, ill use a slim card to push the vinyl into the edges. If it doesnt work as well as I plan, then I'll go ahead and remove the wheel. I've had years of practice with vinyl though so I should be able to do a good job.

Cool, if you do it successfully be sure to do a quick write up with tips or tricks that helped you (With pics or vid would be awesome)

I may do the same if you can do it without removing the wheel

Looking forward to it!
