It feels good. Still trying to get used to the muffler sound inside the car kind of loud a little bit since it used to be quiet or just intake sound lol. But i like it so much not sure about power gain but the car feels a little light when took off from 1 and 2 gear

Well I picked up 4 g37 coupe y pipes today. I installed on of them on my car and there is a noticeable difference in better performance. Revs are a lot smoother under load and a bit more low end torque. Now there has been some discussion about the g37 y pipe having smaller piping for the down tubes than the oem pipe or the HR Y pipe, but apparently it doesn't make that much of a difference for us to notice.
Out of the 4 pipes I got, they were all identical except one. Apparently Nissan at some point decided to flare the piping on the down tubes right as it begins and comes off the cats. But it is only flared for about 3-4" then goes back into the 1.75" piping, exiting the collector @ 2.25" which matches the mid pipe.
Shows comparison of oem pipe to the g37 y pipe that had the flared ends.. oem pipe on bottom in pics.
Collector...oem pipe on right.
Comparison of down tube piping compared to oem and as you can see from the first 3 pics is different from the (1) g37 y pipe for whatever reason.
I also took it upon myself to weigh the pipes and the g37 y pipe is 3-4lbs lighter than the oem pipe.

In my head it would make sense that there could be a slight bottleneck in play if the down piping is a tad smaller than the outlet of the cats, but I think the gains due to the design of the pipe negate any bottleneck or theoretical loss in power. That being said, I have the G37 y-pipe on the way, so I'll post back on my thoughts.

Yeah, I was thinking the smaller piping was to increase back pressure which in theory should increase low end torque, which makes sense. It also seems the longer down tubes help the revs under load.
I started the car up again before I left for work and it surely did sound more like the first gen coupe when you blip he throttle.....

trying to get a hold of a HR y pipe but compared to the stillen/megan/MD/aam/nismo/fuji/whatever else. Performance wise diff between them is very minimal correct and sound wise is there much difference between all of them? MD seems to have the best power gains between everything but any inputs?

My HR y-pipe sits high up in the chassis just like DE Y-pipe. Which HR Y-pipe do you have and what other exhaust mods do you have? My guess is it's related to issues with some sort aftermarket exhaust component you're running.
