Well, you can hope that it fails shortly after the short block is replaced

In 2000, my Taurus had engine problems, and I had the short block replaced. I drove out of town, then when I got back the oil light went on. $100 later (extended warranty), I had the remainder of the engine replaced

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but what type of oil are you guys using? are you using synthetic? or regular oil? i only ask becuase a lot of the s2000 guys who use synthetic oil tend to burn a crapload of oil. that's why some people with s2k's choose not to switch over to synthetic.

Highly debated subject in itself on what kind of oil.
There are ppl who are running dino and ppl running synth with no oil consumption issues at all.
Good thought though, thanks for the idea.

Here's my update for the day.

Just spoke to the service manager, they're running a compression test on my car. Once the results of the test come in, they are going to talk to the engineers and have them send an entire new engine! They are planning on replacing the whole thing, not just the short block.

Funny, when I called, I told them I was checking the status of my car and the service manager says to me "o, the one with the wheels and exhaust on it?" That just made me laugh. They mentioned my intake but only to tell me that it would be transferred over to the new engine once everything was installed.

Ill hear back from them for the confirmation either later today or tomorrow! How amped am I!?

Just got word from Infiniti again. They're ordering me a new long block and new solenoids(?). Theyre unsure when the parts will be here as they are on back-order but they estimate a few weeks!!! They said the parts are over $8,000 plus labor so they needed to "OK" from the headquarters and they got it. Ill update the thread more as soon as I hear more..

Best of luck to you and Hex!

Congrats bro. That's good news. Wow, that sounds like a really cool dealership. I can only hope that things go that smoothly for me. Hmmm . . . engines are on back order?? What does that tell you??

I went to Infiniti today to get some things out of my car and talked to the service advisor. He said that they had another coupe, also a 2006 6MT with only 7K miles on it with the same problem as me.

My engine ships on the 12th of this month. Im hoping to have my car back by Thanksgiving! Ill keep this updated when I hear more.

Best of luck to you all. I highly recommend going to Hoehn Infiniti in Carlsbad down here in San Diego if you are in the area. They are no-BS and do not care about modifications

Best of luck Hexx. Let us know.

You know what you could do, check your oil a lot. Wipe off as much of the oil you can from the dipstick and do it multiple times. All those drops add up if you do that a few times a day, everyday. No joke...thats what I did
